Anela + Matthew by Collections Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

Matt and I have known each other since we were in high school so our relationship flourished from a friendship. We love spending time with family and friends in particular looking after our gorgeous niece Robin who was our flower girl.

Matt is a jokester and always tries to make light of any situation. He doesn’t take life too seriously and makes the most of every day. When we are not at work you will find us at the beach or lake enjoying nice days on the water with friends. We are both easy going and also enjoy the simple things like having a tea together and going for a nice breakfast on a Sunday.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

Getting married in Melbourne regardless of the season you never know what you will get when it comes to the weather. We were extremely lucky to get a beautiful Spring day so we were already winning.

We had our ceremony and reception at Leonda by The Yarra, its a beautiful reception surrounded by greenery and the yarra river. I decided to go for a pastel coloured theme adding some gold detailing throughout. The centrepieces were made up of white, vintage pink and blush roses on each table with 3 different heighted wine glass styled candles. The bridal table had the same theme with roses and candles running along the table.

We added a personalized white dance floor with our names and wedding date printed in gold. One of the best moments was walking into our reception and seeing your vision come to life.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I wore a Jane Hill gown which was beautifully beaded, I always loved the elegance of Jane Hill Gowns so for me this was an easy decision. Shoes I wore nude Valentiono’s which were also very elegant but didn’t take away from my gown.

The bridesmaids wore a soft pink dress by bec+ bridge the style and the colour really suited the theme I was going for.

Matt and the groomsmen all wore Daniel Hechter suits with Aquila shoes. Accessorised with Tommy Hilfiger socks, belts and ties.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

One of the most memorable would definitely be the reveal. Sash our photographer suggested to do a reveal before the ceremony to spend more time together and to capture the moment with just us and the bridal party.

We met at Melbourne University which was a beautiful spot to do the reveal with the heritage buildings surrounding us. The boys arrived earlier and staged the reveal for us girls to arrive. I walked up to Matt feeling excited and emotional and tapped him on the shoulder to turn around. This was very special for us and definitely a moment we will never forget.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

Enjoy the whole process and find some time during the night to spend with each other because the day goes by so quickly.
