This styled shoot was designed to showcase a city elopement in Northbridge on the outskirts of Perth CBD – a non-traditional, low key but still completely epic wedding day.
The focus was on a few key elements and making them incredible, to show couples that an elopement or small wedding doesn’t mean missing out on certain things – I wanted incredible outfits that suited the couple and their vibe, epic florals that held their own in minimal spaces, simple but beautiful hair & make up, and some killer locations that are as amazing for a post-wedding celebratory drink as they are for a Sunday arvo drink!I often see beauty in the urban, industrial spaces, and love the mixture of modern and heritage in Northbridge buildings!
I am a big believer in keeping things local and want to show that getting married in your own neighbourhood can be really meaningful as well as look and feel epic. I actually live in Northbridge so chose some of my fave venues – the bars especially would often be overlooked as ‘wedding appropriate’ but I love non-traditional. Coming from London, I love urban weddings, laneway wanders and dive bar celebratory drinks. I also love that city elopements also give the option of multiple venues in close proximity – All were within a few minutes’ walk at the Perth Cultural Centre – a hub of urban architecture, art galleries & museums and laneway/ rooftop bars.
We got ready at the Alex Hotel, with drinks at the hotel bar, we photographed at PICA bar – a beautiful renovated bar connected to PICA gallery (where the bar manager stated “I’ve got a cocktail that’ll look great with your outfits!”), we photographed on the steps at the new WA Museum, and found a dark and moody corner inside at Mechanics Institute rooftop bar, before jumping back next door to Alex Hotel for dusk photos on their private rooftop!
