Beauty Issue 17

Double duty——For a makeup look that’s daytime-appropriate but glitzy enough for cocktail hour, start by focusing on your brows. They frame your face, and need to be strong, confident and exquisitely defined. If yours are more ‘runaway caterpillar’ than ‘perfect arch’, book yourself in for a good brow waxing or tweezing before the special occasion…

Then, on the day, give those beauties a little extra definition with our hero brow product, Bobbi Brown’s Perfectly Defined Longwear Brow Pencil. On our model, Atlanta, we then used Bobbi Brown Essential Multicolor Eye Palette (in the peachy-toned Into the Sunset), wrapping the colour right around the eye for an injection of drama. We like this look with a natural lip, so as not to upstage the main act, but if you prefer something stronger, we’d recommend a warm pink, such as the Tawny Pink in Bobbi Brown’s Luxe Matte lip colour range. Hair is parted in the middle and held in place with a sophisticated velvet turban-style headband. Atlanta wears top by Mina, head band by Gildie, earrings by Lindi Kingi Design and the Paradise and Forever ring suites by Karen Walker Atelier.

Vamp slayer——Whether it’s a cocktail party, wedding reception, gala ball or red carpet do, sometimes you’re looking to dial up the drama. For a sophisticated, vampish look, we started with a pair of Bobbi Brown’s Perfectly Defined Longwear Brow Pencils to darken Atlanta’s natural shade — in a subtle way. Makeup artist Blair explains, “For a boss brow that isn’t too harsh, I like using two shades of this pencil; one in your natural shade and then one two shades deeper. Think of it as highlights and lowlights for your hair.” On the lips, we’ve used Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Lip Colour in Fever Pitch and On Fire, and Bobbi Brown lip liner in Red to give Atlanta a screen siren goddess look. Atlanta wears halter dress by Camilla & Marc, Bob veil by Karen Walker Atelier and vintage earrings (stylist’s own).

Glow up——This look is all about keeping things fresh, simple and luminous, a perfect aesthetic for the summer bride who wants to radiate pared-back beauty. The secret to nailing this look is creating the perfect canvas by caring for your skin and getting your moisture base right. First, apply Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm in Golden Glow, followed by Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, which provides just the right amount of lightweight cover (and SPF protection) for even-looking skin tone and added moisture. Because your glowing skin is the star of this show, keep eyes and lips simple — opt for powdery eye shadow in a natural shade, a lick of mascara, and a dab of tinted lip gloss. An expertly flushed cheek also helps your skin look glowing. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon is your secret weapon here. To amp up this look for evening, add Bobbi Brown Black Ink Gel liner to the eyes and polish up that pout with a little with more shine — try Bobbi Brown Crystal lip gloss to take things up a notch for night-time glam. Hair is styled into romantic, soft waves. Atlanta wears night shirt by Laing Home, and True love and Euphoria ring suites by Karen Walker Atelier.
