From the author of the Women’s Prize for Fiction winning novel An American Marriage, is her 2011 novel, Silver Sparrow.  This story follows the two families of James Witherspoon, the public one and the secret one with his two teenage girls caught in the middle of their fathers deception. Set in a middle-class neighborhood in Atlanta in the 1980s. Silver Sparrow is Tayrari Jones’ favourite novel that she has ever written.

Such a Fun Age, by Kiley Reid

Longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Such a Fun Age, follows the story of a young black woman who is wrongly accused of kidnapping the white three year-old she is in charge of babysitting. The author, Kiley Reids ability to write about big issues in a subtle way will leave you mulling this one over in your head for some time.
