Bronwyn & Kevin by Beck Rocchi

Bronwyn & Kevin: We met through a mutual friend at a concert in 2015. Kevin doesn’t remember much from that night, but Bron recalls thinking, ‘Nice tatts, nice shoes’.

Our relationship has been so easy. We were on the same page from the start and wanted the same things from a relationship and from life. We got pregnant three months in, which was definitely not planned, but we decided we were both in it for the long haul and obviously it’s all turned out really well. Bronwyn: I love how Kev acts like a dork and makes me laugh, takes care of our three-year-old daughter Willa and I, and is just a really good guy. Kevin: I love Bron’s bubble butt, her loyalty towards her family and friends, and how she makes me feel.

Bronwyn & Kevin: We live in Auckland where we’re both self-employed, Bron in marketing and Kev as a plumber. Willa has the best laugh and keeps us constantly on our toes. We love travelling and want to take her to see as much of the world as we can. There wasn’t a proposal. We decided over breakfast one day that we wanted to get married on a rooftop in Melbourne, and that sort of sealed the deal!

Essentially, we just wanted to have a big glam party with all our favourite people and a short ceremony thrown in, and that’s pretty much how it went. It was relaxed and fun and we kept the formalities to a minimum. Shonel Bryant at Nomad Styling did an incredible job of creating a look and feel that was completely us, from the black and white photo backdrop, decals of our favourite songs and quotes, custom neons and spacies machines, to the vegetarian statistics on our burger bags.

The speeches were awesome and hilarious, and Willa stole the show by putting on a little performance for everyone while they were happening. Our dancefloor went off, and the food was incredible and so ‘us’, with Blakes Feast creating gourmet versions of burgers, tacos, fries and ice-cream. Nearly everything went to plan. The only thing that went wrong is we forgot to buy cucumbers for the gin and tonics, but they still tasted great. Also, Bron’s shoes were horrendously high, so she ended up swapping them for a friend’s halfway through the night.

Bronwyn: My dress was custom-made by Zambesi. I’ve been a Zambesi fan since I was a teenager and was put in touch with designer Liz Findlay through one of my bridesmaids. I wanted something that draped and was sexy with a bit of a kimono feel, and ended up with exactly that.

Bronwyn & Kevin: Married life is pretty much the same as it was before, except we feel like more of a proper little family now it’s official.
