Casey & Murf by Dust & Salt

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Murf and I met on Tinder 6 years ago and hit it off straight away, I think what sealed the deal was our very similar sense of humour, we both love a laugh especially if it’s at each other’s expense.

We absolutely love dancing at music gigs together and we have been lucky enough to travel a lot, a few of our favourite places include India, Peru, New Caledonia (where Murf proposed) and South Africa (where we had our Honeymoon). We have 4 beautiful rescue animals at home (2 dogs and 2 cats) and are expecting our first child in March 2020.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our aim for the day was to celebrate the only way we know how, by throwing a big party. The venue we chose was for this exact purpose, an industrial style café where we could have both the ceremony and the reception to save our guests moving from one place to another. Ceremony over = straight into party mode. The flowers were native’s because they are my favourite (I often come home to some beautiful native blooms after a hard week). The greenery hexagon “arbour” was probably my most favourite detail, it really was more beautiful than I expected and I felt so special marrying in front of it.

Tell us about your main outfits:

My outfit was Chosen by One Day. I am not traditional in any way so their 2 piece wedding gown suited me perfectly. It still looked like a wedding dress but with a modern twist and I felt absolutely beautiful in it. Murf’s outfit was chosen with 3 weeks to spare (in typical Murf style) from MJ Bale, he opted for a classic grey suit jacket and finished it off with a black bow tie to match his suit pants.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

The most memorable was seeing my husband in his suit for our first look, we decided to do this just the two of us down a questionable but gorgeous ally way with graffiti from top to bottom. It was perfect in every way and suited us to a tee. And of course the actual ceremony, we did it our way with a comedian for a celebrant, short and sweet but so many laughs. The most unique and maybe my favourite part of the day was that we had pre- wedding cocktails at our favourite bar with our closest people before the actual wedding started. It gave us a chance to really enjoy the day with our close ones before the chaos began. My husband and I felt so relaxed walking into the wedding and that is all we wanted.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Honestly, don’t sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day it really doesn’t matter because you just married the love of your life. We had the most amazing day with a few minor hiccups, if I could relive it I would do everything exactly the same.
