Beauty – M.A.C AW 16 Makeup Trends
We attended the M.A.C AW 16 Trend presentation last week and got the low down on makeup trends for the season. There are two main directions for the season, Strict and Loose. We have picked out our favourites from each which translate beautifully for wedding and occasion.
STRICT – Flashes of colour, rainbow liners and reflective elements alongside a core collective of decadent and decisively sharp eyes and rouged lips.
‘We’re pushing the boundaries with the classics this season – making specific choices to take them to an unconventional place’ Lyne Desnoyers M.A.C
Sharp:
The sharp lip, the loud mouth. “Its a pained precision…The extreme texture is what keeps it modern”.
Accuracy is absolute and this new look is being referred to as ‘Minimal Glam Makeup”. Skin is worked very simply and the brows are groomed but the eyes are kept very natural with a very intense and perfect lip. A fitting look for a sophisticated bride who wants a timeless look with impact.

Tell us about your design background and how you came to launch a bridal boutique/dressmaking business?
I was always interested in fashion and from a young age I was making my own clothes and drawing up designs. Once I finished school I studied fashion at University and found that all I really wanted to design was beautiful dresses. I then got married myself after I had finished my study and made my own wedding dress. I started getting asked by friends and friends of friends to make their dresses. I really loved the process of working with a bride to create their dream dress, so decided that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I then designed my own range and it went from there.

You opened your atelier in 2001, what led you to this?
I’ve had a life-long love affair for creating beautiful designs for myself and others to enjoy, so when the chance arose to have my own atelier – above a florist’s boutique no less – it was the perfect opportunity.
