Japanese artisan shoemaker Keitaro Takano of Clematis visited New Zealand last week, being hosted at Crane Brothers' High Street store where an exhibition of Clematis shoes was held and a workroom set up for shoemaking and shoe shining demonstrations. Guests to the trunk show were treated to divine catering from Ebisu and other beautiful and refined Japanese touches.
When we were first approached to be involved with Kai and Lisanne’s wedding we fell in love with their adventurous spirit and wanted to create something which reflected this.
How much do you love our cover?! Hopefully as much as we do! We’re big believers in trying something new, and when we had a go at laying this pic up, we felt the joy just emanating up off the page. We think it’s really ‘us’ - chic but playful, authentic yet stylish, utterly unique, packed with emotion and imagination... and lots and lots of love! These stunning images were taken by Danelle Bohane and they were taken at an actual wedding (the wedding of James & Georgia) which we have featured inside.
We got married at a bed and breakfast in Silverdale, about 35 minutes north of Auckland. We wanted a big, beautiful house on stunning grounds, and somewhere that wasn't a commonly used wedding venue.My dress wasn't actually the style I originally had in mind when I started looking – I was adamant I wouldn't be in a strapless dress and I thought it would be more contemporary. But as I started to try dresses on, it was obvious strapless worked for my shape, and when I tried on this one I knew it was the dress for me. The lace and embroidery detail is just incredible, I loved the semi-exposed bodice and dramatic train. It was the dress I could imagine my great-grandchildren looking at in photos and saying, ‘Look at granny’s amazing dress, wasn’t it beautiful.’

Scrap told me he was going to marry me about three weeks into our relationship – we went up to my beach house in Te Ngaere Bay. It was a really amazing trip, we just sat in front of the fire and read books, drank wine and cooked – I think we both felt like we’d found the family we wanted to have with each other.
The morning of the big day was super relaxed for us both – we each went out to breakfast with our respective families and friends, which was the perfect start to the day.
We’re nuts about each other. Our loves include music, joking around with our friends and biting off more than we can chew. We met at Rainbow’s End at a friend’s 30th birthday party, got engaged in Tokyo and currently live in Amsterdam.
Scott proposed on our seventh anniversary. He asked if I’d take our dog for a walk with him, we went on our usual walk along the water, Scott had hidden some champagne in the bushes and we had a glass to celebrate our anniversary. Then he told me he’d bought a new collar for our dog, so I bent down to look at it and embroidered on it was, “Carly, will you marry me?” It was so special because our dog means the world to us, and it was such a simple idea.
We met at high school, in our hometown of Keri Keri - so a long time ago! We went to Elam art school together, then moved to Sydney, where we still live, not long after that. We both enjoy spending our weekends escaping the city, either camping, fishing or bushwalking. One weekend while camping, Rowland casually dropped the question. We were having a picnic on the beach. He’d had a ring made by one of his work colleagues, which was really special.
