CHARLIE + JON by Lauren Campbell

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We’re an unconventional couple from opposite ends of the world that randomly met. Neither of us had a relationship on the radar but things fit too well and here we are.

A lot has changed since the day we met, Jon has left his previous career as an engineer to be Head Brewer/co-founder at Sea Legs Brewing Company and I work as a part-time Bookkeeper.

We both love our 2 kids and spending time with them, a well made beer and camping! Jon still makes me coffee in bed every weekend and cooks most nights.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:

Jon and I were very relaxed about our elopement, we both bought our outfits three months before the wedding and just knew all would fall into place. The most important aspect of our wedding was for all three of us to be together, celebrate together and honeymoon/holiday together. We chose Roy’s Peak because the view was BEAUTIFUL and what a beautiful day it was! The clouds were coming in low and fast and that just made our photos all that much more beautiful. Our ceremony was at the tip of Roy’s Peak overlooking the Islands and was the perfect setting for exchanging vows. Once back at the Wanaka airport we celebrated by cracking open a bottle of champagne and shared it with the crew who helped to make our day perfect! We ended the day with a dinner reservation for two at the Millhouse Restaurant, Millbrook.

We were staying in Arrowtown and the drive to Wanaka allowed for a few stops along the way for photos.

Our favourite detail of the day other than the spectacular views would have to be my flowers!! Wow! So sad I couldn’t take them back home to Australia with me.

Tell us about your main outfits:

My dress was designed by Made With Love Bridal and I purchased it from Sphere Collective on the Sunshine Coast QLD. It was simple and yet so so elegant. My jacket was from Nancy King and was perfect for the weather. Shoes were metalic boots from Manolo Blahnik. Jon’s suit was Canali and his jacket was just divine!! Matched our flowers perfectly.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:

Exchanging vows on top of the world would have to be our most memorable moment from the day! All whilst hearing our daughter screaming from the helicopter haha jokes aside it was romantic, intimate, emotional and just perfect!

Another memorable moment was stepping off of the helicopter a married couple and feeling SO HAPPY! Lauren captured that moment perfectly in one of her photos.

And celebrating briefly with the crew who helped make our day amazing and Wanaka helicopters gifting our daughter a wooden toy helicopter.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:

Elope!! Kidding. Go with your gut and communicate. Plan a wedding that is about the two of you and your love for one another, nothing else – all will fall into place.
