Elli & Matt by Stone & Wool Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship… We both grew up in Rockhampton and met on a night out through a mutual friend.

After 6 months later we ran into one another again and began seeing one another. We have now been together for 7 years. We have lived together for 6 of those years.

Matt is a Locksmith and Elli is a teacher. We bought a house in Rockhampton before selling it to move to Brisbane for a lifestyle change. We have been living in Brisbane for the past 2 years and have enjoyed every moment. Matt proposed January 2019 and we were married by August 2019. We wanted to take the pressure off the wedding ‘planning’ and enjoy the process. It was a fun and stress free process.

Matt’s first impression of Elli was that she was kind, funny, caring and enjoyable to be around. Elli’s first impression of Matt was that he was very handsome, he made her laugh and she knew from the start he had the kindest of hearts.

Matt loves Elli, not only because she looks after him in every way possible, but she is the most loving partner and he feels he is the luckiest person to have her. He cannot wait to spend the rest of his life with her.

Elli loves to way Matt makes her feel. He is always making her smile or laugh and she loves that he always thinks about her and does everything he can to make her happy. He always has her back and supports her. He loves her for her faults and triumphs. He is her best friend.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

From the beginning we wanted our day to be stresssfree and fun. We chose not to have a formal bridal party as we wanted our friends to enjoy the day as much as we did. Matt played a game of golf with his friends the morning of the wedding and Elli had her sister and best friend get ready with her.

We wanted our day to be enjoyable for us and our guests. It was a relaxed, fun and memorable day. We met before the ceremony for a ‘first look’. This was important to us as we wanted to share a moment together before the formalities. This was a very special moment for us both as it took a lot of pressure off the ceremony. We then went for photos before the first look which was one of the funnest parts of the day. We love looking back at these. We had a late ceremony (5pm) where Matt went in to greet our guests and Elli’s dad still had the opportunity to walk her down the aisle.

Our venue was a warehouse which provided a lot of the styling. We were going for a minimal industrial look. We had a lot of candles, greenery and wooden furniture. Our reception was a cocktail style where guests did not have assigned seating. Canapes were served and guests were free to move around the venue throughout the night as it was important that our guests were mingling and enjoying themselves.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Bride- remained in wedding dress for the night. Was wanting a vintage but classic look.

Groom-remained in suit for the night.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

  • Our First Look- having the opportunity to see one another prior to the formalities
  • Photos taking place prior to the ceremony to allow more time to interect with our guests as we had a lot travel
  • Sharing our most special day with our friends and family
  • Vows
  • Cocktail reception where guests were relaxed and able to mingle
  • Speeches
