Emily & Sam by Bianca Virtue

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…We’ve been lovers for nearly 10 years, and have a beautiful baby girl, Annie (2YO).

Sam is a builder, I run an event company called Bang Event Co (Ahemm #Shoutout!) Love a laugh, love a drink, love a dance, love our pooch (Rufus the Red Setter), and we are Reno devotees – He’s the hammer, I’m the heels (or toddler sitter you could say!)

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details… We had been engaged for 2 years, and really couldn’t decide what type of wedding we wanted. Along came blacksmith! We met with the amazing founder, Lizzy, and SHEBANG, we had it all booked in that evening for 3 months time. The venue is Palm Springs meets Italy, in a minimalistic timeless way. They’re chill. They do out of this world wood fired pizzas. The beer is cold. We were sold! Because the venue really spoke for itself, I didn’t want the styling to be intrusive. We kept it minimal and worked with the existing colour palette, which set the theme for the rest of the wedding – Black, Forest green, White and Gold – Hello sophistication!

Tell us about your main outfits: Sam and the groomsmen picked up Gibson suits from Myer, which made it easy for the 5 groomsmen to pick up their suits from across the country, literally! They went for a timeless black suit with a black bow tie.

My gown was from Rachel Gilbert. I had so much trouble finding that WOW dress, that I brought the last size 16 gown off the shelf, and had my local dressmaker take it in to a size 10. Safe to say, she will probably never agree to taking in a beaded gown again! Tall girl problems saw me purchasing my shoes from ASOS, who always do a great sophisticated low heel.

The bridesmaids wore Bec and Bridge, a simple timeless black dress. We purchased online.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day? We had a saxophone player walk us in to our Reception, to the song ‘This Girl’ by Kungs Vs Cookin’ on 3 burners. That was a highlight!

Our groomsmen let 5 whoppin’ white confetti cannons off on our recession back down the isle, that was also pretty epic.

But I think the grazing table at the reception took the cake for post wedding chatter amongst guests!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together? Advice, I think remain chill. Remain who you are. Don’t get fixated on the small things and remember why you’re there – You’re there to marry your lover and have a bloody good time! Don’t skimp on vendors – You totally pay for what you get, and the ease of knowing they were all going to deliver was so fab!
