Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:
Ben and I met through mutual friends over ten years ago. It was far from love at first sight but it didn’t take long for us to realise our first impressions were wrong.
We both cherish our friends and our families and share similar values. We have shared many adventures together and both believe in making the most of every situation. A day rarely goes by where we don’t share a laugh together and that is one of my favourite things about our relationship.
We recently had our first child together and we cannot believe how much we love our little one. I think our greatest adventure is only just beginning.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details:
From the minute we began planning our wedding we knew we wanted to spend the day together. We began with a ‘first look’ surrounded by our family and bridal party, before popping some bubbles and making our way to our photo locations in our Kombi vans.
We stopped for lunch at The Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel where everyone wore ponchos to avoid any food mishaps! We all shared a laugh and some delicious food before making our way to the Panama Dining Room for our ceremony.
Our ceremony was exactly what we had hoped for, as we didn’t want it to be too serious – that just wasn’t us! The Stand Up Celebrant went above and beyond to make sure our ceremony was the perfect balance of beautiful moments and hilarious memories.
From then on it was our dream night. The food was absolutely delicious, the bar was flowing, the flowers were incredible, the dance floor was thumping and the late night cocktails and toasted cheese sandwiches were exactly what we needed! It truly was the best night ever.
Tell us about your main outfits:
I found the dress of my dreams at One Day Bridal, the ‘Nala Gown’ in Ivory. It was beautiful and fun, and that was exactly what I had hoped for. My mum was an angel and made me a bodysuit to wear underneath, with a little blue bow sewed in so that I could have my ‘something blue’. The shoes were gold Jimmy Choo’s and my hair was up in a seventies style ponytail.
Ben wore a blue velvet jacket from Politix with a suit from Travellers Apparel. His shoes were black boots from R.M. Williams.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day:
There are so many moments that we just loved about our day. I think the best part was spending the day together, we just couldn’t imagine it any other way. I also can’t recommend a lunch stop enough. It allowed us to slow down and enjoy how special the day was.
I also adored having a ‘first look’ just Ben and I because that moment was just the absolute best.
Lastly, we loved sending out espresso martini’s and toasted cheese sandwiches as our bonbonniere. Our guests absolutely loved it and resulted in a dance floor that went late into the night.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together:
Marry somebody who you love doing life with and make sure that your special day reflects who you two are as a couple. That’s all that really matters.
