HAYLEY + MARTY by Hannah McMaster

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We live a very big, full and busy life together…

…if you can’t find us at a dairy factory throughout NZ running our electrical/instrumentation business you’ll find us at home enjoying the lake with friends and family or off on an adventure. We rarely sit still. Marty’s sister and my friend set us up and we hit it off from the start.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling, and some of your favourite details:

We really wanted to get married at our home which we hope to turn into a wedding venue soon where we spent our first weekend together, got engaged, and most recently built our home. The whole vibe for the wedding was just relaxed happiness, we had everything and everyone that brings us joy. We tried to keep the styling simple and elegant letting the views be the star of the show.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I got my Chosen by One Day Bridal dress from Still White an online second-hand wedding website which was perfect. I just wanted something sleek and clean. Marty got his linen shirt and shorts from barkers and added a hat and shoes from Rod and Gunn.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Photos on the lake in our vintage boat was just the best! Zooming off together. And I think all the little things everyone else did to make the day happen and all the details that we never thought of just popped up everywhere. I really wasn’t sure how it was all going to come together as 8 weeks out from the wedding our home was still being built and it was a mud pit at our property and so many friends and family came and helped roll grass and get rid of building rubbish to make the property useable, so seeing everything come together was so special.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s all nice to have but if you get so caught up in your vision of the perfect wedding and not just simply choosing things you both want and love you’ll find yourself not enjoying the experience. Your wedding is for you as a couple so do it your way.
