Jess & Chris by The White Tree

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Chris is the Sales Director at memobottle and Jess is the Marketing Manager at Charles Rose Jewellers….

At the time of meeting, Chris, the eternal salesman was pitching a custom branded bike to Jess and the company she worked for, after they had seen some of the bikes he had produced for another  business. Following the first meeting, Chris promptly booked in a second “meeting” offsite at a local bar Chris found she liked. Sadly Chris didn’t get the bike sale, but finally asked her out on a proper date after hitting it off on the second meeting talking about everything but work and had 3 hours of cocktails.

After a year of dating, Chris and Jess started their own business, Copper Co Bikes. After going through the ups and down of a start-up, it brought Jess and Chris much closer together. All the early morning starts, as well as long and cold market days and balancing this with full-time work meant that Chris and Jess had to work closely as a team from early on in their relationship. This helped solidify their relationship very early on.

Whether going to the gym, running markets for Copper Co, going on a day trip somewhere in Victoria or spending time with their nephew, Archie, Jess & Chris like to live an active lifestyle and fill it with things that they love doing – going outdoors, working on their business, or spending time with family and friends.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our theme was “Art Deco-chic.” The colours of our wedding was pastel pink, Emerald Green and Rose Gold. We incorporated this theme by using a pastel pink runner, a Rose Gold Chuppah and our florals. At the reception, we had Rose Gold candle settings with matching name tags. Our favourite part of this was that Chris was wearing an Emerald Green blazer and Jess was wearing matching shoes.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Jess was wearing a Rachel Gilbert lace peplum dress and a Leah Dagloria vale – to match Chris, she wore Emerald Green Bared Footwear shoes.  Chris was wearing a Politix Emerald Green Blazer, Oxford Suit and Aquila Shoes.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

We decided that doing a first dance wasn’t really what either of us wanted to do, and with our abilities to play drums (Jess) and guitar (Chris), we asked a close friend of ours to sing our first song while we played along. (We played Even When I’m Sleeping by Leonardo’s Bride).

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Everyone says don’t sweat the small stuff. For me, the best advice is just “what things matter to us most?” We both play music so a live band was a non-negotiable. We also had great suppliers who really went above and beyond to ensure that our day was exactly how we had imagined.
