Jimmi: Char and I met at a house party. Her flatmate asked me to attend his Auckland Anniversary party. I thought ‘that’s not really a thing, is it?’.
However, I had just watched the movie ‘Yes Man’, so off I went and it was there that I met Char. I create architecture within my own practice People People and AHHA, an architecture collective that I co-founded. Charlotte is a big fan of Aotearoa so is very much into her marketing communications career at the New Zealand Story.
We have a tonne of fun together. We allow each other the perfect freedom to be ourselves and both run at 110 per cent. I have loved Char ever since I first met her. It is cliche, but she had me on my toes as soon as we met and it’s been a wild ride ever since. Her positivity, kindness, creativity and love of life is contagious. Charlotte: When Jimmi walked through my front door I was struck by his luscious free-flowing locks and his charisma. He makes me feel wholly adored and I am in complete admiration of him. He is kind, hilarious and has an uncanny ability to always have himself surrounded by incredible people.Â
For our proposal, a trip to Piz Boe, in the Italian Dolomites with my family was on the cards, I had visited once before and was keen to go again. Jimmi: A note to my old architecture tutor-turned-jeweller, and a ring was in the mail. After many near attempts at securing the perfect moment perched on top of Piz Boe, high in the Italian Alps, I did it.
When creating our wedding we just chose things that we loved. From Aperol’s on arrival, to a band to top all bands, and mint trumpets for dessert. We both wanted to get married in a church for the atmosphere it so effortlessly creates so we chose the Bishop Selwyn Chapel, it has a sweeping gold leaf ceiling and floor to ceiling glass. To jazz people up between the chapel and the party we chose a double-decker fun bus that reminded us of London. The Mission was a carefree option for us.
Being outside by the beach makes everyone feel laid back, paired with espresso martinis and a rolling barbecue helped us maximise our mingling time pre-dancefloor. Charlotte: Jimmi found his burnt orange linen from The Fabric Store then Nasir Ali from Payne Tailors created his suit in a wildly tight timeframe. I adored my outfit and am so grateful that Meg from Kenny & Harlow Bridal brought it to life! It all started with the veil, then the bow popped into my imagination, and things escalated from there.
I was so lucky to have my parents both walk me down the aisle. When we walked in everyone began clapping, at this point I was already living the dream, then I saw Jimmi!! We both hadn’t seen each other’s outfits so when I saw him, I exploded, he was the definition of cool.
