Macenzie & Jerrod by Chellise Michael Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We met almost 6 years ago. We had both just moved to Denver, and neither of us knew a lot of people there. We had a few mutual friends and had met in passing a time or two.

We had exchanged numbers, but neither of us had ever gotten in contact with the other. One night while aimlessly swiping on Tinder I no’d him- swiped left. After doing so, I was like “ Hmm, I think I know that guy?” So I decided to text him and let him know that I thought I had just no’d him on Tinder. It’s been an ongoing joke in our relationship ever since! Almost three years ago we moved from Denver. We are now living just north of New Orleans. We miss having four seasons and the mountains so close by, but we are loving the southern culture, and of course, the amazing food! Jerrod Is a Bond Underwriter for The Hartford. His job is what transferred us to the south! I manage a clothing boutique. In our spare time we love to travel, we are a bit wanderlust and love a good adventure! We are also perfectly content at home with out sweet pup, Denver.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Once we narrowed down that we wanted to have a a beach wedding, the decision to have it in Tulum came easily! It’s such a bohemian paradise and we knew it would be perfect for our eclectic styles! We worked closely with our planner every step of the way and she truly took our vision and brought it to life! It’s hard to narrow down our favourite details, because it was all so beautiful! Our floral was out of this world, and that Teepee, GAH!

Tell us about your main outfits:

I found my dress at A & Be in Denver. I had seen the dress a year before we were even engaged, and completely fell in love. It was the first dress I tried on, and nothing else came close! I knew I wanted Jerrod to be in something that complimented the dress. Try explaining to someone why they have to wear a very specific colour without giving away the reason! A sage suit was not easy to find, but we did it! And it all came together perfectly.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

The entire day was such a dream! Every detail, and every moment was perfectly us! The day was full of memorable moments, it’s hard to narrow it down. We’ve found comic relief in that fact that a bus with half of our guests, and the Priest who was to conduct the ceremony, got stuck on a bus that was 45 minutes late to the wedding. All of the hiccups, that at the moment seem like the biggest ordeal, make the best stories! Looking back, we wouldn’t change anything. Hiccups and all!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. And remember you’re always on the same team!
