OPEN CONVERSATIONS: From a recent bride-to-be…

We received the following email from a bride-to-be who has had to postpone her wedding die to Covid-19 and we wanted to share her story with you…

I recently read your ‘Open letter to the industry’ post about how things are so uncertain in the wedding industry at the moment in regards to Covid-19 and how vendors are having to adapt and be nimble and it really just resonated with me so I felt the need to write this message…

I’m one of those brides who has sadly had to postpone our big day which we’ve been planning for the last 18 months and was supposed to go ahead on the 4th of April. It’s been absolutely heartbreaking. Over a third of our guests live overseas, including people in our wedding party, which is a massive number who have had to cancel only 20 days out. It was an incredibly hard decision but ultimately we just weren’t prepared to celebrate our wedding without so many of our loved ones.

I was so nervous to reach out to our vendors because I wasn’t sure if we’d be told we’d have to pay more money for postponing so close to the wedding or if they’d tell us that we’re too late and simply weren’t able to move it. But our fears were for nothing because not a single one did! We have 18 vendors so what I was expecting to be a logistical nightmare actually turned out to be okay. In fact, way better than okay!

We were sent back emails with nothing but love and support. Our vendors were flexible and really sympathetic about the situation we were in. Its been the most humbling experience. We felt like our vendors truly cared about us as people and that somehow this invisible barrier of formal ‘business-like’ interaction had broken down and left 2 people navigating through a difficult situation together with care and respect.

I’m beyond grateful to each and every one of them. What could have been an awful experience has instead been turned into a pleasant one under the circumstances. I never thought it would be possible but in less than 24 hours we have managed to completely reschedule our wedding. Bring on the 10th of October 2020! Jacqui & Carl x

Well done to these vendors for handling a tough situation and climate with such grace…
