This issue officially marks a new year!

Inside you’ll find 15 glorious weddings, all completely different in style, to inspire all sorts of couples, but all with a wonderful Together Journal vibe. This is an issue full of fashion: we speak to menswear retailer Murray Crane who tells us about how his boutique tailoring and lifestyle brand Crane Brothers is evolving and the attention to detail required to make the perfect custom wedding suit. We learn about a wave of bold brides emerging in the wake of pandemic disruption from Katie Yeung of Hera Couture and Daisy Brides. And Max, the iconic New Zealand fashion brand, show us how bridesmaids’ style is becoming more directional, treasured, and personalised.

To celebrate the new year and to get you even more excited about modern wedding fashion, we decided to deliver two editorial shoots. We visited Parihoa Farm, nestled in the cliffs of Auckland’s rugged west coast, only 40 minute’s drive from the CBD. The dramatic seascape and bold architecture make a memorable canvas for modern and fashionable weddings

We also take you back to the heart of the city into Floracentric, a charming and eclectic flower shop and studio where we photographed Brazilian beauty Nayara nestled (literally) in a backdrop of blooms and foliage. Floral design is a constant joy of weddings, a time when experimentation and extravagance is welcome. You can’t help but be drawn to the bold, evocative artworks created and captured by four revered Together Journal contributors, Danelle, Naomi, Sophie and Sue. We are proud to celebrate these four women as the true artists they are. They have created pieces to put on the wedding wish list and cherish forever.

While the last year has brought all kinds of challenges for couples who just want to be married with their friends and family looking on, we are seeing a strong reemergence of colour across all elements of weddings. It’s popping onto tables, predominant in bouquets, and being incorporated far more into wedding attire, for both women and men. We can’t help but see this as a beautiful reflection of hope shining through after tough times. The future is bright!
