Real Wedding: Carly + Elliot – Photography by Jim Pollard

Elliot and I are both wedding photographers from the United States and own a company called “A Nomadic Love”. We travel the world exploring new places every chance we get. We believe that life is about experiences, touching the lives of others and learning about the world and all it has to offer.

We first met when we were children. Our families were great friends. Over the years, our families lost touch and everyone’s lives took a different path. It wasn’t until three and a half years ago that we reconnected and fell in love. Our wedding day was everything we had ever dreamed of and more. We were driven up to a mountain top in Queenstown, New Zealand, to the most beautiful place we would ever know to marry each other. We had our ceremony during sunset (what photographers call the ‘golden hour’), and it felt like we were stepping in to a fairy tale. The landscape was so beautiful, it looked like heaven on earth. Although it was incredibly windy, we were able to wrap our arms around each other and truly have the most intimate ceremony. The only people present were our celebrant Glennys, our photographer Jim, and at the very last minute the photographer’s wife was called in as we realised we needed a second witness to make the marriage legal! It was the most adorable experience having Jim’s wife, 6 year old boy and 9 year old girl acting as last-minute witnesses, cuddled up in a blanket together watching the first wedding of their lifetime. Elliot—Somehow I have been lucky enough to catch an uncatchable woman. Over the years, Carly has shown me how special and unique she is. Anything she puts her mind to she somehow makes happen. When I need her the most, she is always there to console me and listen. She is affectionate and loves me for who I am. She has a wonderful heart and spirit and one of her best traits is that she is honest. Carly—I could go on for days about all the things I love in Elliot. He always puts others first and has the kindest and softest heart of anyone I have ever met. He is patient and understanding and accepts all kinds of people without judgement. He pushes me every day to be a better person and has always motivated me to chase my dreams. Because of this, all my dreams have become realities. Being married means sticking together through the highs and lows of life and always supporting each other. Life as a married couple is absolutely wonderful, and we couldn’t be happier with making a lifetime commitment of love and support.
