Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
We met in Tenerife on the 29th of December, 8 years ago, during a Christmas party. We are both Canarian but we were living in Madrid and little by little we got to know each other while we were both studying there.
As we finished our degrees we decided to carry out some projects together, since we were both a bit restless. We developed a brand and even started a few restaurant projects in the capital of Spain, like “Zaperoco” and “La Jefa Home Bar”. These projects enriched us as a couple and we were able to evolve professionally as well as personally, working as a team.
Finally, I started my interior architecture studio that bears my name and Emilio achieved his goals in the restaurant business.
In the summer of 2016 we got engaged during a boat trip through Croatia. We arrived to a beautiful cave between the islands of Mijet and Korcula, where he had a message written on a sail (Will you marry me?). It was beautiful and it was an unforgettable trip.
The best thing about us is how we complement and support each other, which, being entrepreneurs, is important.
We love to travel together, try new places and explore new cultures, but above all we love our little dog Garimba!
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
The wedding was safari themed, so there were animals on the tables and the decorations were elephants, zebras, giraffes, etc. It was a fun little touch and our guests enjoyed it.
The decoration on the tables were fruit and vegetables; there were lemons all over the place, including the church. We wanted color, something fresh and new. A magical enviroment lit by candlelight. The candles were surrounded by green beans.
We love the lights that hung on the tent as it resembled a starry sky.
As a detail we put some Emmanuele chairs decorated with flowers to sit in. The pool was also filled with flowers.
Tell us about your main outfits:
My dress was made by Helena Mareque. It was made by hand with flowers of gold and silver thread. The ends of the dress were left unsown with sackcloth and it was all frayed. I also wore a belt made by hand with bamboo buckle, military cloth and burlap border.
The headpiece was made by hand using goose feathers, with 15 meters of feathers by Loleiro, a hat maker from Tenerife.
The shoes were old gold from Gucci.
And finally the veil, also made by hand with the same flowers from the dress.
Emilio wore a Scalpers suit made by Borja Vazquez, a tailor and friend of the groom, as well as a bow tie and shoes of the same brand. He paired it with a Rolex watch.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
One of the most special moments was the entrance into the church. Both of us were very emotional.
During the party, my friends gave me a surprise. They had written a song for me. Lots of very emotional moments.
Overall we enjoyed the wedding to the maximum and there were many moments we wished we could freeze in time, but we’ll always have fond memories of giving the bouquet to the groom’s grandmother since a few months later, we lost his grandfather.
We’ll remember this day for the rest of our lives.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
That they enjoy all of the planning, it’s stressful but fun, and it’s something you should enjoy together.
And above all once the big day comes, that they enjoy it, from beginning to end. It rained on our wedding day but there was nothing that could ruin it for us.
