Styled Amsterdam Issue 18

An Amsterdam wedding. In the land of Rembrandt and Hals, you’d hope for a wedding day like a baroque still life: beautiful in the gentlest of ways, a relaxed affair with no pretensions…

Our bride epitomises this laidback mood. Content, carefree and in love, she descends the stairs of the chic, retro Hotel Mercier, her white gown flowing like milk from a Vermeer jug. Holding a bouquet, her hair gorgeously untamed, it’s as if she has been out in nature to gather the blooms for herself. Awaiting the bridal party is a dining table where natural light suffuses everything, flooding over the floral displays, which marry grasses, new hybrid roses and carnations. Raw, natural and wildly romantic, this look contrasts the vintage prettiness of engraved glass plates with the edginess of slim black candles and pale rose gold flatware. The effect is cosy, intimate and inviting. A table setting made for a day and night of celebration with the people closest to your heart.
