My favourite time of year for hydrangeas is when summer’s ending and the season begins its change to autumn. Gone are the bright hues of blue, white and pink, to be replaced by various shades – lilac, dusky pink, cerulean and boysenberry.
Playing in my studio one afternoon creating strictly-this-palette-only-thanks wedding bouquets, I felt compelled to put together something unusual and bright.
Nothing says sweet decadence like a table set with a delicious confection of cakes and flowers.
This time we’ve combined soft and strong elements with delicate blush tones to create a lush, boho and ‘fresh from the garden’ feel.
I was very lucky to get the most amazing peonies, which opened up to be these full fluffy pink pillow creations. Bigger than my head and appropriately named ‘Dinner Plate’, these were the star of the show!
