Working Style Autumn 2020

Working Style continues to delight with the treatment of their latest Winter Collection. Photographed in Oamaru in North Otago at a working White Stone Quarry the effect is dramatic, original and typical of this iconic NZ brand.

“ We wanted to juxtaposition the beautiful soft fabrics against the hard – masculine rock of North Otago “ says Managing Director Chris Dobbs.

“ As a proud New Zealand brand with Heritage of over 33 years we were really excited to go into the spine of our country, into the bedrock and see if we could create something special”  said Dobbs.

Mark Smith a long-time friend of Dobbs and the brand again shot the 2020 Collection.

“The stark white stone two-tonne blocks are magnificent pieces and the whiteness of the stone and the unique Otago light have created something really special, this season” said Mark Smith who photographed the Collection, something he has done for over 10 years.

“ The real fabric of New Zealand and the stone is such a wonderful, tactile thing to work with, “ said Dobbs.

Working Style Suit Collection continues to be  Made in Portugal, while the extended smart casual ranges are sourced from Italy and Turkey.

The brand has continued to work with the best Ateliers in the world, masters of their craft to create unique pieces with strong handwriting that are perfectly suited to a New Zealand lifestyle and how we do business.

“Our customers are travelling extensively so they are connoisseurs rather than consumers” says Karl Clausen, Working Style’s Creative Director.

“Curating the Collection requires a real understanding of how a busy NZ man works and lives and they need us to simplify things and make it easy to wear” says Clausen who has been with the WS brand since 2000 with various stints overseas, continuing to learn and perfect his trade.

“The 2020 Winter Collection is incredibly exciting as we are seeing new garments in amazing fabrications that are the best in the world” says Clausen.

“When you see how they sit and contrast with the brutal surrounding of North Otago, I think you will agree that they are stunning” says Clausen.

The Working Style winter 2020 collection is a continued evolution of soft construction, beautiful fabric to touch and wear and importantly comfort.  The warm earth tones that are the cornerstone of the collection ensure that a large proportion of the collection is easy to wear and interchangeable. This ensures it can be adapted to our clients’ lifestyles both professionally and socially.

The outerwear is incredibly dynamic in fabrication, finishes and cut and this season we expanded our butter-soft leatherwear jacket options, the highlight being a chocolate flight jacket with a removable shearling collar.

We have always been known for our beautiful shirt and suit collections, and this season is no different. Amongst our sophisticated collection of suits, we have added several garments which can importantly be worn separately, offering greater versatility for the wearer.  We have continued to finish all our tailored garments with ultra-light shoulders, showcase patch pockets on several coats and have a great selection of trousers with side adjusters. All these features underpin the sense of understated sophistication.

For every guy, shirts offer the perfect opportunity to change up a wardrobe and this season our fabrication selection, the soft washed colours and the details we have finished these with is a broad as it’s ever been. The way guys are wanting to dress today means they are excited about the opportunity to wear shirts with some interesting details, should this be a fabric treatment to soften its appearance or a collar style to expel new handwriting to their dress sense.

The collection has just dropped into stores nationwide and is also available to shop online now too.
