Des\u2013 I\u2019m a veterinary nurse, Davis is a sports physiotherapist, and we both absolutely love what we do. We share a love for the ocean, coffee, and a good hike. We also like to host a bloody good games night with our friends (feat. Davis\u2019 master cocktail skills and my absolutely-not-toxic competitive nature). <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We eat more pizza in a week than most people would eat in a year, and we have two cats that we adore. I was about to leave for an extended trip to the US with my best friend and was absolutely not looking for a relationship. One of my friends happened to upload a photo of us that caught Davis\u2019 eye. He messaged her asking about me, followed by a swift Instagram follow. I thought \u201cdamn he CUTE!\u201d but not much else because I was literally leaving the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then spent every day talking to each other on Facebook Messenger, until five months later when I got back home and we finally got to meet. It was like we were old friends reuniting, kind of like my soul had found its home. It was magic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Davis\u2013When my friend posted the photo, I didn\u2019t know who Des was but I straight-up hit my friend up to suss if she was single and eventually built up the courage to slide into her DMs. I was so nervous for our first date but the butterflies disappeared as soon as we met \u2014 it felt like we already knew each other inside and out. When she understood my obscure Simpsons references, I knew she was the one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des\u2013We were in Nepal, in the middle of a 16-day Everest Base Camp trek. I hadn\u2019t slept properly in days, and hadn\u2019t showered for even longer. I looked an absolute VISION. On this particular day, we were doing an acclimatisation hike up to a 5000m peak. It was easily one of the most difficult days of the trek and there were a few times where I felt like maybe I couldn\u2019t quite make it. But Davis had a secret plan and would not let me give up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three hours of wind, nausea and altitude headaches later, we reached the peak. The valley was clear, with a panoramic view of ice-capped mountains. It was like we had stepped into a dream. The proposal was magic. We cried, and laughed, and cried, and… come to think of it maybe we were a little delirious because of the altitude? But it was perfect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I actually came across my wedding dress when we were shopping for my mum\u2019s dress! I had another dress at home that I\u2019d purchased a year earlier. But I saw the Zimmermann and couldn\u2019t stop thinking about it. We went back later that day so I could try it on and I just knew it was the one! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you heard of hygge, that wonderful, warm feeling of intimacy, cosiness and love? That\u2019s what we wanted for our wedding. And, other than the groomsman\u2019s speech being a drunken hilarious mess, everything ran smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
