Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
We’ve been together for 5 and a half years after meeting through a friend of a friend of a friend.
Kate works in sustainable finance and Nick in healthcare. We both have a great love for the outdoors, music, food and travelling. We got engaged whilst travelling through Morocco, in the midst of a desert camp in the Sahara desert.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We wanted to get married in a green setting away from the city where our guests could feel relaxed. We were married in a secret garden on the property, under an arbor that Kate’s stepdad built especially for the ceremony.
After the ceremony we had canapes, and drinks on the back lawn including a gin & cloudy apple cocktail that we had spent several nights with friends perfecting in the months leading up to the wedding. In the evening we had a banquet style dinner in the barn and danced under the stars with our friends and family. We were both overwhelmed with the love and happiness that the day and evening brought us. After the wedding we stayed the night in the converted silo that sits next to the barn.
Tell us about your main outfits:
Kate wore a dress from Made with Love, and Nick a suit from Richard Bowman Tailoring.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
Looking out at the people arriving from the top floor of the Silo before the ceremony and realising that it was all actually happening (Kate). Getting married in the secret garden on the property – it added a unique element and created an intimate feel in a secluded location.
Seeing guests from the different areas of our lives mingling and partying together. Our guests belting out “You’re the voice”. It was one of the great late-night bonding moments!
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
It’s your special day so have fun with the wedding day! Don’t feel pressure to keep things traditional or to follow the same formula as everyone else unless that’s what you want.
