“Renowned for its scented candles, Maison Trudon extends its savoir-faire and unveils a genderless line of perfumes. Intrinsically rooted in the Maison’s heritage, the perfumes are a modern, rather subversive take on precious themes such as history, royalty or a sense of absoluteness.”

A unique approach…..
Simply named Trudon, the new perfume line still claims references to religion, royalty and revolution. And yet breaks free from them.
Three highly praised perfumers – Lyn Harris, Antoine Lie and Yann Vasnier – infuse the collection with rich historical notes that are meaningful today. They compose five contemporary chapters: in each one, noble, natural ingredients take centre stage. Neither feminine nor masculine, the perfumes contain an olfactory complexity that hints at a character rather than a gender.
It is part of Cire Trudon’s ethos to collaborate with different talents, promote creative freedom and showcase different expertise. Handpicking three perfumers was therefore a deliberate choice and despite each perfumer’s singular approach, a strong statement runs through this first collection.
Individually given a brief by a sophrologist, each nose was taken to a Parisian landmark; chosen for its evocative meaning; each venue catalysed singular ideas and sources of inspiration.
“In harmony with the brand’s stylistic approach, Pauline Deltour created a perfume bottle that integrates Cire Trudon’s aesthetic codes and materials; yet, it stands out on its own.”-Julien Pruvost Creative Director
Bruma contains a distinguished, almost animal-like sensuality. In the night, a feminine rider draws inner strength from the elements that surround her: her horse and the depth of the forest at night seem to give her a magnetic and carnal aura.
Olim represents the vanity and emotion of a royal era. Powdery notes touch on beauty; spices evoke decadence and resins hint towards opulence. Olim refers to a form of purity with an underlying richness.
II is about new beginnings; the life of a forest that permeates through the seasons. It is sensually symbiotic, bringing elements together: a Cologne that inspires and points at a magical place.
Revolution is a fragrance that permeates the skin, and builds up on human emotions throughout the day. It blends in, leaving an air of mystery and intrigue around the body.
Mortel Skins heat up against one another, placing sensuality at the heart of Mortel; more, frankincense, myrrh and benzoin reveal the erotic spell of pure Cistus.
Together Journal was lucky enough to attend the event and experience all five fragrances. Our initial favourite was Olim, immediately tantalising with its luxurious and spicy notes consisting of bergamot, lavender, anise, pink pepper, clove, patchouli, benzoin, myrrh and musk.. But we can see that our favourites will move with season and mood. The enchanting II is so fresh and awakening, perfect for Spring with green leaves, orange bigarade, pine, pepper, juniper, cedar, incense, ambroxan and cashmeran. And our third pick is the Bruma with notes of black pepper, lavender, galbanum, violets, peony, iris, jasmine, labdanum, vetiver and tonka bean.
The 100ml perfume bottle resembles the design of Cire Trudon’s scented candles. Created by Pauline Deltour, the rippled-glass cap evokes the elegant silhouette of La Promeneuse. In a pine-green hue, the top counterbalances the transparent bottle, inspired by blocks of crystal.
“The bottle sits perfectly in the hand and is pleasant to the eye. I perfected its dimensions to underline the domed neck on top of which the rippled-glass cap sits. Elegantly placed in a cut-out window, the label seems to be framed,” says Pauline Deltour.
