Summer always brings with it a certain sense of anticipation. Here in the Southern Hemisphere, the days are getting longer, celebrations are filling the calendar, and the holiday season is almost upon us. Elsewhere in the world, the season may look different, but Christmas and New Year remain among the most popular times for engagements, marking the beginning of a new chapter for so many couples.

With that in mind, Issue 44 feels particularly celebratory. We bring you an incredible collection of weddings from across the globe, each wonderfully different from the next. From beautifully considered city celebrations to destination weddings and gatherings on the family farm, what connects each one is not a particular aesthetic or approach, but the individuality of the people at their centre.

Fashion is also a major focus of this issue. We explore Paolo Sebastian’s extraordinary world of couture, where craftsmanship, romance and fantasy come together, and take a closer look at Claudia Li following her return to New Zealand Fashion Week, as she expands her distinctive design language into made-to-measure occasion dressing. We introduce BLEU, the new label from Hera Couture, bringing a fresh, modern femininity to bridal, and catch up with Porter James, which offers a more relaxed and individual perspective on menswear and dressing for significant moments. We also celebrate the arrival of Faradays, an exciting new chapter for luxury retail in New Zealand.

We have also produced a dedicated beauty story and an extended fashion editorial in our very own neighbourhood. For the fashion story, we worked with Mel from creative floral studio Cecilia Fox, celebrating the beauty of flowers and the way they can transform a setting.

Our much-loved regulars return too, with Objects of Desire and Lovely Things bringing together fashion, design and beautiful finds currently catching our eye, while Fragrance for Lovers and Beauty Heroes explore some of the newest and most interesting arrivals across fragrance, skincare and makeup. With the festive season upon us, there’s plenty here for gifting, getting dressed up, summer celebrations, and perhaps a little something for yourself.

And to all those who may find a certain question being asked over the coming months, congratulations in advance. Wherever in the world you are reading, we hope Issue 44 gives you plenty to dream about as you begin planning what comes next.
