Anita & Brent by Georgia Verrells

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We met as teenagers working in the kitchen at the local hotel. We have been together for13 years.

Anita is a nurse/midwife and pilates instructor and Brenton works as a labourer. We both share a love for health and wellbeing, good food and discovering new places.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We wanted our day to reflect our personalities so we aimed for an event that was relaxed, rustic and focused on nature. We also focused on doing a lot of DIY as we wanted to personalise every aspect of the day, from the personalised sugar cookies for each guest to the welcome sign that we painted ourselves.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Anita’s dress was custom-made by Bernadette Pimenta Couture. It was difficult to find a dress that ticked all of the boxes and I realised I wasn’t going to be happy with anything that wasn’t individual and unique. The olive green colour and knee- length style of the bridesmaid dresses reflected the relaxed/back-to-nature feel of the day. The groomsmen’s ties also matched the bridesmaid dresses.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

We found out we were expecting our first child not long before our big day so we ended up announcing the pregnancy at the start of the reception. It was amazing seeing the reaction on our friends and families faces.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Communication is key. 9 times out of 10, an issue can be sorted by talking it through sooner rather than later. We have also committed to spending quality time together and taking weekends away. We figure that we can’t care for our friends and family if we don’t look after ourselves first and foremost.
