Annalee & Trent by Charlotte Sowman

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

So I’m freelancing makeup artist where I’ve been working in the wedding industry for 6 years now, based in New Plymouth but travel nationally also – a lot of our vendors from our wedding are close friends I’ve made over the years within the industry.

So this was a very personal experience for everyone which was lovely. I’m also a content creator online, I took my love and passion for the beauty industry online and now that’s a full time job aswell. Trent is a bloody hard worker, he’s a builder. 12 months ago he finished building (on his own) our third home. We are both super ambitious people, larger than life personalities who work in polar opposite industries. We love a good laugh, adventure and drink!

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We wanted a classic, romantic and timeless feel to the theme, lots of white, roses, bow ties & cocktails. Some of our favourite details would be the venue, Barton provides three beautiful settings; we had the welcoming area at the pool over looking the ocean & new Plymouth city, ceremony & cocktail hour on the main lawn & then reception in the barn. It’s a venue that has plenty of character. We loved the 1920 American styled cars we all arrived in. I loved that my mother on the day gave me her earrings to wear they were perfect. Also loooooved how our table settings came together. Can’t forget how efficient our planner Victoria was, she run the wedding so smoothly all day.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Trent wore the BEST fitting Tuxedo from Kingsway New Plymouth along with his groomsmen. I took so long to find the perfect dress, I would of tried on up to 80 before I found the one, I just didn’t want to leave any stone unturned! You only do this once (touch wood haha) mine was from Jessica Bridal and my close friend Liah Roebuck Bridal did my veil.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

The day before the big day it was pouring (and I mean pouring day) with rain, we natural thought it would have to be inside but the morning of the wedding we woke up to blue skies and it stayed like that allllllll day, honestly it was a blessing. Getting ready that morning with my girls and Trent with the boys, nothing beats the excitement of getting ready, my glam squad where all my close friends so it was even better. A very memorable moment would that I wasn’t overly emotional until we hit the gates of the venue and I instantly cried, my nephew (Donovan) who was our page boy (aged 5) met me at the door of the car when we turned up and gave me a huge hug. I had a tear mark down the side of my face all day haha I think it was kind of perfect though. Another unique moment, during speeches my cousin presented us a wedding card my Nana wrote for us – she passed away 4 years ago.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Like they say – Never go to bed angry haha!
