Blooms of the week – On My Hand

I love to create arrangements in large urns, there’s something about this style of vase that allows flowing movement with vines or branches and when placed on a mantel or table it can soften a hard edge.

I had some beautiful leftovers in the studio that day from one of my workshops. Baby quinces, bright red gladioli, Apple branches, dahlias, jasmine, berries, oak and foxglove.

I was inspired to bunch the varieties so each flower had its own stage, it’s an uncluttered design on the eye. The Jasmine vines and apple branches bring shape and movement while the red gladioli pops and the dahlias soften everything with their pink ruffles.
