We love bluegrass music, spending time at our family cottage, camping and road trips. Jeff works as an engineer and plays mandolin in a bluegrass band on the side. I work as a product manager at a startup, building websites for small businesses.
Keith and I are each other’s biggest fans. We honestly think the other is the coolest, hottest, funniest, most special person on the planet.
We live in Melbourne where Christian has two restaurants, ‘Embla’ and ‘The Town Mouse’. I work as an illustrator and have an illustration agency called ‘Use New Art’ (see following artist profile in this issue). Our working lives don’t overlap that much and so when we spend time together it feels really special. We seem to enjoy doing the same things when we are not working - which is mostly eating, drinking or otherwise being lazy – and in between we give each other a lot of insight and understanding from our quite different experiences of the world.
Matt happens to be my brother’s best friend, who moved into my old family home with my brother after I vacated in early 2012. We used to spend time together hanging out at family dinners and gatherings. After ten months or so we started training together for a running event. This soon turned into dinner dates and we have been together ever since.
I’m originally from Slovenia and Nico is from New Zealand but we both love big cities and central London has been home for us for many years now. We’re very different, but together we make sense. We have different tastes in music and we always argue about movie selections, but we have never had a disagreement about our values or future goals.
Stanley and I are quite different which can be challenging; he is logical and detailed, whereas my mind is filled with crazy ideas and I am always looking for a shortcut because I am so lazy. We don’t always work well together but we try and learn from our differences and influence each other in positive ways.
We’re both active people with far too many hobbies — boating, golf, fishing and beekeeping. If Tom heads off hunting, I’ll spend the weekend doing yoga. Tom is currently training for his private pilot’s licence, so that will open up some new adventures for us.
We’ve just recently returned to New Zealand after spending the most incredible past 4 years living and working in London, which is where we based ourselves to travel the world. We are both travel mad and all of our wedding day styling, food and ideas were inspired from our adventures together.
Patryk and I met each other at a wedding, and as soon as I saw him, I knew he would be my husband. We decided to move in together after one month of knowing each other and by the end of the second month, we were engaged. Patryk had ordered a handmade engagement ring that he planned on proposing with in the evening, but when the courier arrived, I was so curious about what was inside the parcel that Patryk decided to get down on one knee right then and there. Although I was very surprised, I didn’t hesitate to say a big yes.
We met at a coffee shop in Carlsbad, California. James proposed one morning in bed when I woke up, the morning of my birthday. The day of the wedding was clear, cool, gorgeous. It was an absolutly epic, beautiful day. Then the ceremony started and it began to rain.
