Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

We met sitting on the floor far too early for a university lab. Cass was her pre-coffee self and Toby was far too happy for that time of morning. Although it wasn’t necessarily love at first sight we both recall walking away from our first encounter telling our separate friends “there is something about her/him”.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship:

On first impressions we seemed an impossible match and having met each other years prior, were both in fierce agreement of this position! The start of our relationship was a slow burn but there was this quirky, authentic connection which came about through shared values and experiences. This ultimately helped us persevere through the “yikes, I’m not sure if they like me” moments and we still smile at the unlikely pairing and our second chance at love, together.

We first met in 2017 in Franz Joseph on the wild West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. We had already been talking on the phone for a few months and were not just relieved that our connection was just as strong in real life, but we immediately started planning future together over dinner that night!

Stevo grew up on Barnbougle, in north-east Tasmania, a cattle and potato farm now best known for its two world class gold courses. I love that Stevo is a lovable larrikin. He’s got a cheeky smile, he’s able to laugh at himself and not take things too seriously.

I moved to Gisborne from the US in 2012 at 16. I had only been in Gisborne for a few weeks when a local school here decided to have a concert. One of my friends (my first friend here actually) convinced me to go with her as I needed to get out and meet people.

Our adventure together started in high school. What began as a high school romance, has now blossomed into a beautiful family, with our 2.5 year old son, Atlas, and our two beautiful dogs, Koda and Kiara. I think, what Dan and I share the most, is our love for making memories.

Maddy + Tolga by Kyra Boyer

Tell us how you meet each other?

We met via the good old swipe right technique, Tinder. Our celebrant did a wonderful job of compiling our story from a questionnaire that we’d filled out for her and shared the story from both sides. It was June 14th 2017, a cold dark night in Melbourne and we’d agreed to meet at a wine bar in Brunswick, Mr Wilkinson.
