Welcome to the Together Journal Cocktail Club. We’ve teamed up with the lovely people from Good Spirits to bring you a series of cocktail creations so you can enjoy the perfect night out in the comfort of your own home.
This recipe is 100 years old so has stood the test of time. Definitely one of our favourites to drink and most popular to make. Short, Sweet and Strong. All you need is Gin, Campari and a Sweet Vermouth. There’s a few vermouths on the market but our favourites are Dolin Vermouth Rouge and Martini Rosso. For those of you with a bigger stash of booze in your kitchen Pantry, you can add a drop of Absinthe as well.
Recipe:
30ml Gin
30ml Campari
30ml Sweet Vermouth
Teaspoon of Absinthe (optional)
Orange peel
Method:
Get a small tumbler glass from your kitchen. Add your Campari, Gin, and Sweet Vermouth to the glass. If you’re using Absinthe, pour a teaspoon in first with an ice cube and swirl for 30 seconds. Dump the contents and then add the other ingredients.
Use one big block of ice and small bits don’t work as well on the dilution. Stir down everything for 30 seconds to dilute. For the garnish, it’s super easy. Get an orange and make a peel, 4 cm long, 2 cm wide. Squeeze over the drink and rim glass. Drop-in and stir again for about 10 seconds. You can also just use an orange wedge as well. Drink Responsibly as this is a boozy number.
