Erin & Pete – by Alex Kwong

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your
relationship…

We are a plumber and an Early Childhood Educator. We love music, vintage, film, dancing date nights, our family and friends. We are unique in the fact that we mirror one another, completely. We met by chance, and at a time in our lives when one was not looking for the other.

Then ‘at first sight’ was not something you read about in great love stories or poetry, it became very real and grew very fast. We are easy going, give each other a sense of calm and safety. We have big dreams, and not only that but the same dreams. We often wonder why it took us so long to meet.

Tell us about your special day; was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our main goal was to provide our friends and family with a huge party and we felt we really delivered. The dance floor took off so early that speeches
were bumped forward an hour because “I don’t think people are slowing down anytime soon”. We wanted something intimate, fun and beautiful. We centred the music around love songs and The Jade needed no extras. It provided us with the perfect backdrop with its hidden corners, eclectic styling and old, vintage feels. With the hard-wood dance floor and carpeted stage, you could’ve sworn you were at the theatre, watching a wedding unfold, rather than attending. It was the perfect, perfect venue.

Tell us about your main outfits:

The bride wanted something so specific it wasn’t found in a store. She was lucky enough to have a family friend make it for her and from their first meeting to their last, the experience was wonderful, emotional and exactly as she’d hoped. Draped in an ivory silk blouse, with each movement handmade beaded silk was revealed from under white and blush tulle; it was literally a dream gown. The groom had his heart set on all black and he wore it oh so well.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

We had our photos taken apart and together before the ceremony, enjoying a few hours beforehand with the bridal party and our parents at the beautiful Adelaide bar, NOLA, for some celebratory cocktails and craft beers. We stole away to The Jade before it opened for some photos before the guests arrived. Having that calm before the storm to enjoy the company of each other was really special. The ceremony and reception took place at the same venue, completely back-to-back, allowing for prime party time!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Be sure of each other, be trusting of your head and your heart; love one another and never, ever forget to have fun!
