With over 20 years of experience, designer Katie Yeung understands the difficulty women can face finding their perfect wedding gown. This is why she has released curve ranges for her Hera Couture and Daisy Brides brands.
“Our mission is to create beautifully tailored, comfortable gowns which make a woman feel like the best version of herself, no matter what her size,” says Katie.
From day one Katie has worked with real women to realise their dream dresses and she has always provided a full range of size options. Being inclusive is something Katie has been passionate about from the start.
“Feeling gorgeous on your wedding day shouldn’t be a privilege, it should be a right for all brides,” she says.
Katie has developed a line that is specifically created for the curve market because she finds brides often don’t realise showrooms go above a size 16 or are nervous at fittings in case designers don’t stock their size. Katie also wants to develop a range that combines all the knowledge she has learnt over the years.
“Curve isn’t simply increasing a flat pattern into incremental centimetres to create a bigger size. There are many other factors to consider when creating a flattering shaped gown, especially when all Daisy and Hera dresses are made to be comfortable and lightly corseted. It takes years to perfect. Having a tailor and couturier for a mother has certainly helped,” says Katie, “she has been my mentor and inspiration.”
Katie also understands the narrow ideal the media and advertising industries promote for women and is excited to challenge this. During the creation of the Curve campaign it has been a privilege to work with curve model (and Opera singer!), Isabella Moore from Unique Model Management. Isabella features in the Hera Curve and Daisy Curve photoshoots.
Katie would love you to join her in creating a world where all brides are proud, confident, and celebrated.
