Photographer Discovery: As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we find ourselves feeling both nostalgic and deeply grateful for our photographer community. So, we have curated the first part of our list (in no particular order) of iconic destination wedding photographers we know and love. Many are creatives we have worked with for years, in some cases close to a decade, growing alongside one another in a way that has felt meaningful and very special. Others are more recent connections, yet they already feel woven into the Together Journal story and family.

In the wedding world, we spend our days celebrating love stories, beauty and connection, yet the work behind it can often be surprisingly solitary. Long hours, remote locations, editing marathons and working quietly behind the scenes can make the process feel very individual. Not to mention balancing families and dealing with all the wonderful (and not so wonderful), unexpected things that pop up when you own and run a business. That is why building this community has meant so much to us. Growing together and creating connections and friendships has been one of the most meaningful parts of our journey so far.

The enduring support and the beautiful work our contributors and their couples have entrusted us to share across our print magazine, website, and social channels have been instrumental in shaping who we are today. We would not be the publication or the community we are without them or their world-class level of photography. We look forward to continuing to celebrate and discover more talented photographers in the years ahead.

As always, this discovery feature will be an ongoing, regular series that we’ll continue to release, introducing you to many more talented photographers. There are so many across the world, someone for every couple, every style and every location. For us, one of the greatest joys is discovering new talent, and bringing more peopel into our community, so stay tuned.

La Dichosa

La Dichosa is a fashion-forward wedding photographer and a true leader in editorial style wedding imagery. Every celebration they document feels like a fashion shoot, yet one that still holds the personality, emotion and intimacy of the day. Their aesthetic and editing style is unmistakable, polished yet deeply emotive, creating imagery that feels both elevated and honest.

We have been in awe of La Dichosa for quite some time and feel a thrill of anticipation every time we see a new wedding from them. Even the smallest detail becomes a work of art through their lens. It’s been a privilege to feature La Dichosa in print and online. We adore their work.

Nicole Pleat

Nicole Plett is a storyteller and artist devoted to the art of noticing.

Specialising in documentary and editorial photography, Nicole works with analogue methods to capture the soul of life’s loveliest moments. Her imagery preserves honesty while reflecting on what is fleeting. Nicole is a curator of subtle textures, quiet gestures and those barely-there details that often hold the deepest meaning.

Guided by intuition and over a decade of experience, she knows when to step back, allowing the natural rhythm of a moment to reveal itself. A keen observer of nuance, she offers her clients a way to hold onto the ineffable, giving shape to memories that might otherwise slip away. Each frame feels unrepeatable, grounded in the truth of the moment it was made.

Nicole resides in New York City and often spends time in the Canadian Prairies with her partner, Devo, a multidisciplinary artist who works alongside her as a creative collaborator and second eye. Together, they document the intersections of life and love, capturing stories that feel deeply felt, intimately seen and beautifully remembered. Nicole has had several weddings published in print with us and more across our digital channels.

Zara Staples

Zara Staples and her partner Jarad are analogue and digital photographers and filmmakers based in Auckland, often found travelling across the world for the couples and stories they are drawn to. Working with 35mm and 120 medium format film alongside digital, as well as Super 8 and 16mm in their motion picture offerings, they bring a beautifully textured and cinematic approach to documenting a wedding day.

Originally from Gisborne, Zara has been photographing since she was eleven, and fifteen years behind the lens has shaped a style that is documentary and unobtrusive, with a hint of editorial and a love of rich, expressive colour. Her work is deeply rooted in connection, capturing people as they truly are. Jarad grew up in Katikati and first fell in love with image-making while documenting friends skating, later moving into live music photography and spending four years touring throughout the US as a tour photographer. Their worlds converged naturally, and now they travel together, splitting their time between New Zealand, the UK and Los Angeles.

Their approach is instinctive and intuitive. They observe, listen and allow the day to unfold, documenting honest moments, tender quietness and the joyful chaos of celebration. Working as a team adds depth and dimension to every story they tell.

Zara is a true Together Journal gem, with numerous print and digital features and our current Together Journal cover to her name. Zara and Jarad’s work continues to inspire, offering imagery that feels personal, contemporary and full of soul.

Jimmy Raper

Jimmy Raper is an Australian photographer who travels the world to document weddings with a deeply truthful and intuitive approach. He believes that the most meaningful way to capture a wedding day is to let it unfold naturally, without staging or manufacturing moments that are already perfect in their own quiet way. Jimmy is drawn to the intimate and often unnoticed details, the small movements and glances that reveal who you are and the love you share.

His work carries a strong editorial sensibility and has been recognised by publications such as Vogue. Yet despite the polish and refinement in his imagery, there is always a sense of honesty and emotional depth at the core.

We have featured Jimmy’s weddings online, and in the early days of Together Journal, he photographed imagery for print interviews. It has been a joy to watch his work evolve and his profile rise over time, while remaining grounded in authenticity. His photographs feel tender, lived-in and real. They reflect love as it is truly experienced, rather than performed.

Klaui Varadi

Klaui was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, before moving to California at the age of fifteen, where she fell in love with the light, the coastline and the easy sense of possibility. A romantic at heart, she has always been drawn to love stories. It is this openness and tenderness that led her to photography, where she now documents weddings with a sense of sincerity, intimacy and quiet beauty.

Emotions + Math

Emotions and Math is a Melbourne-based collective of photographers and filmmakers who are drawn to the quiet, in-between moments. Their work is rooted in the belief that the truest parts of a wedding are often the ones that unfold softly, without direction. Twice named among Australia’s 23 Best Wedding Photographers and most recently recognised by THE WED as one of the 30 Best Wedding Photographers in the World, they continue to create work shaped by trust, presence and the stories couples invite them into.

Their approach blends documentary storytelling with an editorial sensibility, resulting in imagery that feels ethereal, soft and muted, yet grounded in truth. They look for the fleeting gestures that often go unnoticed but hold the emotional weight of the day. The brush of a hand. The hush before a vow. Light moving through lace. A shared laugh caught just before it breaks. These are the moments that linger, and they are the foundation of everything Emotions and Math create.

Their work has taken them across continents, from the sunlit shores of Australia to the vineyard hills of Italy, through Florence, Lake Como, Sicily and Sorrento. They have photographed among the alpine peaks of Switzerland and the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, felt the ocean air in Bali and traced golden light in Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand. Their cameras have also followed love through New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Paris and Antwerp, always returning to the idea that beauty exists most powerfully in the fleeting.

We love their fun, distinctive and slightly offbeat style, and we feel honoured to have featured their work in Together Journal print issues several times, and many more times across our website and social platforms. They are a collective we admire deeply, and we look forward to celebrating more stories together.
