Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
We met several years ago pursuing previous sporting related careers. Now we both share a passion for sustainability and the environment and love spending time down in South West Victoria on family farms getting our hands dirty.
We’d love our own dream garden or hobby farm at some stage in our life and we get a buzz out of being in the natural environment and taking hikes in the bush.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We always wanted a connection to the outdoors for our special day and when we stumbled across Terindah Estate we were instantly in awe of the setting. It provided us with an outdoor ceremony with spectacular views over the bay looking to the You Yangs and a spacious dining space with expansive views over the vines. The private beach and paddocks provided the perfect opportunity for special photos in nature. We were excited to see haybales in the paddocks on the day, to connect to the times we spend on family farms. Having a good plan B for poor weather was also appealing! It was important to us that we created a relaxed and fun vibe for our wedding. We opted for a short, fun, and personalised ceremony to start the celebrations. We hired an amazing band that got everyone up on the dance floor. Jayde explored her creative and frugal skills with the styling. Hand making the signs, place cards, candles and photo hoop. The night before the wedding, Jayde and her Bride Tribe had a fun evening creating the floral arrangements for the Arbor. Other special elements include the eco confetti which Jayde’s mum, Karen spent months creating by hole punching gum leaves!
Tell us about your main outfits:
Bride – Simple and comfortable! Jayde found her dress at a sample sale and it perfectly fitted her style and budget. She never thought she would wear a veil but was convinced and so glad she did. The veil was purchased second-hand online. Groom- We both fell in love with the colour of Robert’s suit jacket as soon as we saw it. Something a little different was perfect.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
Spending time with our bridal party in the lead up to the wedding was very special. Unusually, none of the bridal party knew each other but everyone got along so well. We stayed nearby the night before and shared good food, drinks and laugh. It was special to share the moments getting ready on the day with our best mates. The ceremony will be one of the most memorable moments. After a slight delay due to light rain we celebrated our love, had a laugh at vows and the typical struggle to get a ring on smoothly and were covered in the eco confetti as we walked back down the aisle.
The band were amazing creating a unique entrance for us and an amazing vibe for the whole night. They got everyone on the dance floor at the end of the night to create a circle and celebrate together.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Be yourselves, break traditions and spend it with the ones you love. Don’t hold back and go all out, you won’t regret it. We were apprehensive about some elements of the day in the planning stages but don’t have any regrets and would do it all again tomorrow if the price tag wasn’t attached!
