Jess & Jake – by Zanda Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Jake and I first met around 5 years ago. We became friends until we then started dating a few years later and from that point our romance turned into love.

Jake proposed to me on Dream Beach located on Nusa Lembongan Island in Bali. We were about to go on a swim in the ocean and then he got down on one knee. It was the most beautiful and happy moment which I
will look back on for years to come. Jake and I absolutely love spending time outdoors, at the beach, camping, travel, and all things food. I work in events and have recently set up my event planning & styling company Boheme Events and Jake is a builder.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

For us getting married meant celebrating our love with the people in our lives that we love and cherish. We envisioned our wedding day to have a relaxed simplistic bohemian feel, so our guests could enjoy some drinks and live music in the sunshine and party into the night. It really was the best day ever, everything came together perfectly on our special day. The venue was absolutely stunning with the rolling hill landscape paired with the modern glass pavilion. We planned every element of our wedding from the ideas and inspiration through to the venue set up and styling on the day. Although we kept the styling of our wedding simplistic the beautiful florals and olive greenery used throughout the wedding was one of my favourite details.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I fell in love with the Abbott dress by Truvelle as soon as I tried it on. It was exactly what I was looking for, both simple and timeless with a bohemian feel to it. I felt beautiful and comfortable in my dress all day long. I had my veil handmade by Sally Eagle and finished the look with a beautiful gold and pearl Nikki Witt head piece and gold Zoe & Morgan statement earrings. Jake wasn’t keen on the idea of wearing a suit on our wedding day as we got married in the peak of the New Zealand summer, he opted for a more relaxed look and wore dress shorts, a linen shirt and dressed it up with a bow tie, braces and woven leather boat shoes which looked great.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Our most memorable moments from our special day include being sung and played down the isle by our very talented friends to one of our favourite songs The Girl by City & Colour. It was a beautiful moment that we will always remember. Sitting down at the head table at the reception was also memorable as it is that moment where you realise all the people that you love are all in one place for you both to celebrate your love which is a very special feeling.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Enjoy each other always and make your adventure through life together the best! Soak up every single moment of your wedding and take a moment to step out from the party just you and your partner to reflect on how amazing the day has been and how lucky you are to have one another.
