Alexandra Grecco SS27 by CityLux Studios
At this year’s New York Bridal Fashion Week, Alexandra Grecco presented Dream, Baby, Dream, a collection that drew deeply from the glamour and spirit of early twentieth-century cinema while maintaining the brand’s distinctly modern sensibility. Inspired by silent film icon Louise Brooks, the show paid homage to a woman known for her rebellion and unwavering commitment to authenticity and self-expression. As a defining muse of the 1920s and 30s, Brooks embodied a chameleon-like duality, and that sense of transformation quietly shaped the narrative of the entire presentation.

From the opening look, it was clear that this show would become one of our favourites of the week. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of past eras, the runway unfolded as a thoughtful tribute to the visual language of early film. Fluid silhouettes emerged as a defining element of the collection. These pieces captured the languid grace associated with the period while reflecting Grecco’s signature sensuality and her commitment to refined, modern tailoring.

Styling further reinforced the collection’s cinematic references. Short veils, cropped hairstyles, and 1920s-inspired headpieces created a distinctive atmosphere that transported the audience into another time. Yet despite these vintage touches, the designs themselves remained fresh and contemporary, demonstrating Grecco’s ability to reinterpret historical influences through a modern lens.

Versatility also played an important role in the collection. Rather than focusing exclusively on ceremonial gowns, the runway introduced a range of pieces suited to different moments throughout a wedding celebration. From elegant looks for getting ready to playful options ideal for an after-party, the designs reflected the evolving rhythm of modern weddings and the desire for wardrobes that move fluidly between occasions.

Founded in 2014 and proudly made to order in New York’s Garment District, the label has always centred its work around the individuality of its brides. Alexandra Grecco’s silhouettes balance sensuality with expert craftsmanship, pairing classic elegance with unexpected touches of whimsy. Sumptuous fabrics and rich textures were evident throughout the collection, contributing to the luxurious feel and ease of wear that have become hallmarks of the brand.

Dream, Baby, Dream ultimately felt like a celebration of personal expression. By weaving cinematic nostalgia with fluid cuts and versatile designs, the collection offered a romantic yet contemporary vision of bridal fashion, one that honours both tradition and individuality.
