P.Johnson

Redefining Modern Tailoring in Auckland

Australian tailoring house P.Johnson is crossing the Tasman this month for an exclusive trunk show at ECC Auckland, marking a landmark moment in the brand’s evolution. For the first time, the label will present its women’s ready-to-wear collection in New Zealand, offering a rare opportunity for local clients to experience its world of refined, contemporary tailoring up close.

Founder Patrick Johnson, together with Tom Walsh and Zyon Sidoti, will be in Tāmaki Makaurau to personally meet guests and guide them through the label’s relaxed, intelligent approach to modern dressing. Adding to the experience, the ECC showroom will be transformed by Creative Director and Interior Designer Tamsin Johnson. Styled with ECC’s latest summer arrivals and bespoke USM modular wardrobes purpose-built for the presentation, the space will reflect P.Johnson’s pared back aesthetic while highlighting enduring craftsmanship and considered design.

Founded in 2009, P.Johnson has built an international following for its intelligent balance of craftsmanship and ease, creating tailoring that feels as effortless as it looks impeccable. With showrooms across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, New York, and London, and an atelier in Tuscany, the brand is admired for redefining modern elegance with an Antipodean sensibility. Its approach to tailoring favours fluidity over formality and subtle refinement over spectacle, offering a new vision of what modern dressing can be.

At the Auckland trunk show, clients will have the opportunity to experience the brand’s made to measure and ready to wear collections up close. The offering spans Refined Essentials, Eveningwear, Swimwear, and Tailoring, each designed with the brand’s signature restraint. Expect supple, breathable fabrics, a palette of beiges, creams, and soft greys, and silhouettes that move with the wearer rather than against them. Each garment reflects P.Johnson’s philosophy of ease and purpose, a wardrobe designed to serve the life of the wearer.

“We have always believed clothing should serve the life of the wearer rather than the other way around,” says founder Patrick Johnson. “Our approach is about ease, comfort, and beauty, clothes that feel as natural in the morning as they do in the evening.”

This design ethos is clear in the label’s light-handed tailoring: unlined blazers, fluid trousers, and dresses that whisper sophistication without rigidity. Each piece transitions effortlessly from day to evening, city to coast, work to celebration.

For New Zealand’s design-conscious audience, P.Johnson’s arrival represents more than a retail moment, it signals the arrival of a philosophy. Thoughtful, relaxed, and deeply refined, P.Johnson invites wearers into a world where true style is defined not by excess but by ease.
