Rachel + Jason by Kate Phillips Photography

I wanted it to feel chic, yet undone, light, and fun. It was important to me to create an environment where all the most special people in our lives could have fun and get to know each other.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We are Rachel and Jason Rowe, both born & raised in Atlanta. We are both in software sales, which can be stressful at times, but we are so grateful to really understand and support each other’s careers. We love spending time with our pup, Ziggy, and turning our first house into a home!

RR: In my free time, I love being creative. I taught myself how to embroider earlier this year, and it came in handy adding special touches to our wedding!

JR: My biggest passion outside of Rachel and Ziggy is my hometown sports teams. I enjoy spending my free time with friends catching a Braves game or rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturdays in the fall.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
RR: It’s funny, we both have different versions of remembering how we first met. I remember meeting Jason at a New Years Eve party. A mutual friend asked if I thought any of his friends at the party were cute, and Jason just happened to walk by at that moment. Jason was very tall, sweet, and talkative. We hit it off immediately, and have talked every day since almost 7 years later.

JR: The first time I remember meeting Rachel was when a mutual friend of ours brought her along to a house party that we had thrown around Thanksgiving.. I remember thinking Rachel was very cute and we briefly spoke at our house and later at a local bar we went to. There is a group photo of us standing on opposite sides of the large group from that night. It was about a month later where we reconnected on New Years Eve.

When did you first realize that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?
RR: Jason integrated into my life so naturally. He seemingly effortlessly became close with my friends, family, and coworkers. He also quickly took my college dog, Ziggy, under his wing. The two were inseperable off the bat. Seeing Jason care and love Ziggy really showed me how genuine and trustworthy Jason is and was a big reason I knew he was the one for me

JR: Rachel and I hit it off and were spending a lot of time together. I quickly fell in love with her and Ziggy spending nights and weekends getting dinner or hanging out with friends. During the early stages of our relationship I was struggling with what I wanted to do with my career and felt like I was at a bit of a dead end. Rachel spent time teaching me new skills  and connected me with others to shift my career in a more positive direction. I knew she was the one as she saw more potential in me than I ever saw in myself, and I was sure I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…
RR: I will let Jason tell this story!

JR: I knew it was very important that Ziggy be involved in the proposal. We had planned to meet a couple of friends for dinner so while we were getting ready I suggested we go on a family walk to a new park I had seen on the way back from a hardware store before dinner. We then walked to a local Community Garden with Ziggy at sunset where I popped the question under a large pergola. I had also arranged for her brother, Alex, to be hiding nearby to snap photos and capture the moment. We then went on to the planned dinner where I had gathered several friends and both sets of our parents to be waiting to celebrate. It was a perfect ending to the night.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding…
RR: I wanted our wedding to feel like an intimate garden dinner party for 100 of our closest friends and family. I wanted it to feel chic, yet undone, light, and fun. It was important to me to create an environment where all the most special people in our lives could have fun and get to know each other. The dinner portion of our reception was really important to me- I loved the idea of an outdoor garden with dinner  with meals served family style to encourage everyone to interact.
