We met at a coffee shop in Carlsbad, California. James proposed one morning in bed when I woke up, the morning of my birthday. The day of the wedding was clear, cool, gorgeous. It was an absolutly epic, beautiful day. Then the ceremony started and it began to rain.
Then it began to sleet. Then it began to snow. At the end of the ceremony, our celebrant recited the Apache wedding blessing, which starts with, “And now there is no more rain, for each of you will be shelter for each other.” Sure enough, the clouds parted and the sun came out again! Our wedding planner Birna from Pink Iceland helped us pick out the perfect waterfall for the ceremony, and photographers Ryan and Heidi from Forged In The North did a perfect job highlighting the breathtaking Iceland landscape. It was our day, but mother nature played a strong supporting role. We didn’t have a cake, just amazing Icelandic food from a local restaurant. The most memorable elements of the day were the unpredictable Icelandic weather, and ending the night dancing to our song, ‘Hoppipolla’, by Sigur Rós. Our advice to other couples get married is to just trust each other, and you can do more together than you ever thought possible. Married life has been an exciting adventure so far! We see talents and traits in each other that no one else does. There have been a lot of surprises and changes this past year, but we stay strong for each other.
