Real Wedding: Lilia & Kevin – Photography by Marion Heurteboust
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
Lili and Kevin met in Paris, on the island of the Bois de Boulogne, it was a warm evening of July. Lilia immediately spotted Kevin and managed to get to speak to him. He got her a pain au chocolat at then end of the evening, what a hunting technique!
Kevin could not be in London for my birthday last year because it was in the middle of the Brexit referendum and he had to work in Paris. It was on a Monday, so I had dinner with friends and when I came back home I found him kneeling amongst hundreds of candle lights and flowers. He said a lovely declaration from which I have no memory because I was so shocked, I was barely listening and just staring at him!
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We wanted something that would feel unique to us and which would reflect our personalities. The secular ceremony was an ideal set up; our friends and families made it so special, solemn and soft at the same time. We were also very keen on giving each other a speech to highlight why we love each other. It was really my favourite moment, and I will remember forever the proud and emotional look Kevin was giving me while I was speaking and trying not to be too emotional myself!
We wanted the venue not to be a typical wedding venue, not too pretentious but with a “wow” effect! I also wanted something typically Provençal as I grew up in Aix en Provence. The Domaine les Roullets was the first we visited and we immediately loved it, with its olive trees, lavender and wineyards. It was also an amazing place where we spent the next three days with our closest friends.
Our reception was very vegetal with eucalyptus leaves on wooden rectangular tables directly on the grass. We loved the candles and spotlights.
It was far beyond what we were expecting. Our friends and families really made it special, playing the piano during the ceremony, singing songs and delivering poèmes made for us. The dinner under the stars was also a top memory where people were on fire, while our best men and bridesmaids where delivering hilarious speeches.
Tell us about your main outfits:
It was the Devin model from the lovely Rime Arodaky, that I got customised. It was really my dream dress, simple and fluid on the front but with a more elaborate back.
Kevin wore a costume Faubourg Saint Sulpice, with Paul Smith brown leather shoes without socks. The bridesmaids wore nude dresses with a gypso crown.
