Sarah & Corey by Native Weddings & Aleksander Jackson

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship… Corey and I knew of each other through a mutual friend, but first laid eyes on each other at a music festival where he intrigued me as he was dressed as a pilot.

Instantly there was a connection as we spent the whole day together. We both discovered so many similarities with one another, we love brunch, music, adventure & animals. In the 4 & a half years we dated we survived renovating a home, moving houses. a long-distance interstate relationship, raising pugs, travelling the world & we could not imagine life without each other & are excited to start our new chapter with a little girl arriving in April.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details… Food is very important to us; we both are madly in love with delicious food and so we attended a picnic day held at the Farm Yarra Valley as an opportunity to check out a potential wedding space & after trying the food and wine we both agreed that this was the perfect place for us to tie the knot with our loved ones. The theme was rustic, native and a touch of modern with a casual and comfortable energy.

Tell us about your main outfits: Vicky at Vasiliki Couture created my dream wedding dress, and considering I was 18 weeks pregnant at that stage she managed to make me feel comfortable and elegant in what I wore. I was in love when I saw the pearl tulle and obsessed with the sleeves, I felt like royalty.

The beautiful bridesmaids wore Auguste the label in an off-white bohemian style dress, which was relaxed, flowy and perfect in the November heat. The flower girls wore Bardot Jr, with a whiter colour similar fabric to the bridesmaids which tied in a bit of a dotty theme. The flower girls loved their little picnic basket to keep all their goodies inside.

Corey went with his fellow groomsmen to Bell & Barnett where they enjoyed beers, pizza and table tennis whilst getting fitted and they managed to get awesome blue suits to suit the day. Our favourite detail about the suits is that inside it has 11/11 so we will always have that as a token for the day.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day? The day was filled with memorable moments, we celebrated the day with lots of laughs and love.

For me personally, I was amazed at my husband, who is not big with public displays of affection and seeing him come out of his comfort zone with cameras being incredibly affectionate – a huge credit to Native Weddings and Aleksander Jason by making us feel so comfortable with them capturing intimate moments.

Also – the speeches, so many emotions came out at the speeches.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together? Take in the day as much as you can, when they say it goes quickly they are not exaggerating & try not to feel guilty about spending time with each and every guest member try and make sure you get some time to absorb the moments with you and your lover. The stress of seating charts and invitations don’t matter because everyone only sits to eat and then moves around anyway. Enjoy this amazing time and I highly recommend a photographer (especially one that offers an engagement or pre-wedding shoot which helps feeling more comfortable in front of the camera) and a videographer as the day goes so quickly – it’s wonderful to re-live it through a wedding video.
