Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Nick and I are both designers that live and work together in Sydney. Our design work is primarily residential interiors design with lots of our projects being in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney.

We’re a busy couple that is always looking for the next project to pursue. Working together can be challenging but extremely rewarding! We have a dog called Batman – we like the simple things on our down time – walks, movies, good food, dinners with friends.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Our day was very paired back, simple, timeless – just what we wanted. We had our ceremony and reception in far North Queensland so I wanted our décor to symbolise the environment it was held in. It seemed fitting to incorporate arrangements of lush rich green leaves and white contemporary flowers arranged as decoration throughout the reception at my parents incredible home and at our reception in the rainforest section at the local Queens Park. I was fortunate enough to celebrate our wedding in an intimate setting with our closest family and friends at my parents house which I grew up in on Melton Hill. My family home is a very contemporary house that sits on a hill over looking the ocean and Magnetic Island. We did not need to do much in the way of styling – tall clear vases with contemporary lush arrangements of greenery and flowers and candles scattered throughout was enough – we did not want to take away from the design of the home. We had free standing tables throughout, on going canapes, cheese boards, two bars set up and that allowed for the paired back simple ambiance we were trying to achieve.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Sophy – I wore a skirt and top that appeared as a dress. Reason being is it gave me the opportunity to change into a short skirt after the first dance – when all the partying begins! The main bridal skirt was long and romantic with a train. I paired it with a long sleeve lace, high neck top buttoned up from the back, top to bottom. The top was see-through, so I wore a nude bra underneath. I wanted a classic, timeless, yet contemporary take on a bridal dress.  I wore a long two-tier veil for the ceremony, I wanted to add that extra touch of traditional romantic – I wore it over my face so my father could draw it over when handing me over to Nick. My shoes were gold and yellow high heels by an Australian designer True Penny – they gave the outfit a bit of pop.

Nick – Nick wore a suit by Jack London. He had been looking for ages and came across a suit in stock, which was a relief as he didn’t have to get it made. The suit was black with a faint fine checked print.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Walking down the aisle hand in hand with my father to the string quartet playing ‘Young and Beautiful’ by Lana Del Rey was magical. Looking at Nick through my veil was very moving – the moment is something I will never forget and our entrance to the wedding with the crew was a fun memory that we will both laugh about now.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Be kind, patient and supportive to one another. Enjoy your journey together in life for you are  truly blessed to have found a partner that you can grow old with and love unconditionally.
