Sarah + Dan by Maegan Brown Moments

Our amazing planner helped bring that vision together by adding so much colour through the florals and styling on our day.

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…

We both work in Banking but couldn’t be more different. Sarah is a designer, while Dan works in technology. Sarah loves coffee, and Dan barely drinks green tea. We have two dogs who we love, and Dan’s angling for a third! But we love animals, food, travel and spending time with our loved ones.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?

We met in 2020 during lockdown in Melbourne through Hinge. The app actually recommended that we’d be a good match, and we have to agree it was right. We had our first date at Jells Park; Dan may have gained favour by bringing his dog Ellie and a few pastries from Agathe Patisserie.

When did you first realise that this was someone you’d like to spend the rest of your life with?

It was something both of us were quite sure of pretty quickly; we got along so well, had so much fun together, and everything felt easy from the beginning.

Was there a proposal? Tell us a little about it…

The proposal was epic. Dan had been planning it for a while. We had a trip booked to Europe and the UK and one of our destinations in the middle of the trip was Paris. On one particular day, Dan had planned a little tour around Paris doing things that Sarah had mentioned she had really wanted to do. He then organised drinks at this cute wine bar, where he persuaded the staff to let us take a bottle and two glasses. He then whisked her away to a particular spot (one he had scouted the day before without Sarah knowing) with a park bench and a view of the Eiffel Tower. Then, at midnight, when the Eiffel Tower lit up, he got down on one knee and proposed.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood or style of your wedding.

We wanted the day to be one big party. Full of fun and amazing food, and I just wanted it to feel authentic to who we are as a couple. Our amazing planner helped bring that vision together by adding so much colour through the florals and styling on our day.

What was one element you were happy to splurge on?

We were happy to splurge on the venue because we knew that with Stones, we wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. We loved that the ceremony and the reception were all in one place.

Did anything happen on your wedding day that you laugh about in hindsight (even if it was stressful at the time)?

Once the ceremony was over, we realized we had left the saree at the Airbnb. Luckily, Sarah wasn’t meant to change into it straight away, and the Airbnb was only 10 minutes away. Thankfully, we didn’t have any major issues on the day. It really was the most perfect day.
