A Poetic Debut for a heartfelt brand
The debut runway collection from Untouched World’s new creative collaborators, Moira and Lucinda, marked one of the most emotive and memorable moments of New Zealand Fashion Week. The show was a masterclass in mood and execution, with styling, choreography, lighting and sound working seamlessly to create an atmosphere that made you feel something profound. It was immediately clear that this is a brand driven by care, for craft, for its market, and for the people behind it.

Rooted in Untouched World’s 30-year legacy, the collection drew on the timeless dialogue between built environments and the natural world. Inspired by travels through European design capitals, the duo were struck by the quiet resilience of nature as it reclaims urban spaces, and this idea of renewal and reclamation guided both fabric and form.

Innovation met tradition on the runway. The collection marked Aotearoa’s first use of Brewed Protein™ by Spiber, an extraordinary textile made from sugarcane that carries the luxurious hand-feel of cashmere, silk or wool, while pointing towards a sustainable future. Alongside this, merino sourced just an hour from the brand’s Christchurch headquarters appeared in summer weight, a reminder of the beauty of considered, local supply chains. Linen also played a central role, both in the garments and in the staging itself. In collaboration with Gina from Papahoa Fibreworks, whose boutique Canterbury farm grows the very plants that become fibre, the show grounded fashion in its truest origin: the land.

What unfolded was a collection that managed to feel both modern and timeless, intellectual yet emotive. There was a softness in the silhouettes and textures, but also a quiet strength in the way the pieces carried their purpose. In a fashion climate increasingly defined by sustainability and integrity, Untouched World delivered a show that was not only beautiful to watch, but also a statement of values and vision.

This debut felt less like an introduction and more like an evolution, a reaffirmation that fashion can be deeply rooted in care, innovation and connection, while still delivering the kind of elevated beauty that leaves a lasting impression.
