We knew we wanted a destination wedding.
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love…
We’re a very social couple based in our hometown of Atlanta, GA. Jeffy works in marketing within the fragrance industry, while Tim works in sales for his family’s air filtration business. Together, we share an active, outgoing lifestyle and love exploring everything our city has to offer. On any given weekend, you’ll find us catching up with friends—whether that’s gathering with our Atlanta crew or making trips to see friends in other cities. Some of our favorite ways to spend time together include cheering on Atlanta’s sports teams, going to concerts, enjoying a spritz outdoors, taking long walks, and traveling whenever we can. We love spontaneous weekend getaways around the U.S., as well as bigger adventures to destinations like Madrid, London, or Costa Rica. No matter where we are, we’re happiest when we’re with each other and surrounded by people we love.

How/where/when did you meet – and what were your first impressions?
We first met more than ten years ago while attending Georgia College & State University, a small but close-knit school in Georgia. We moved in similar circles, and one of our friends ended up introducing us. At the time, there weren’t exactly fireworks—we went on a date night together, had fun, and decided to leave it at that. Fast forward a few years to 2020: both of us had settled in Atlanta and, by chance, ran into each other at a bar. This time, the timing was just right. We reconnected, started spending more time together, and a little while later we were officially dating. The rest is history.

Tell us about the vision you had for the mood and style of your wedding. (theme, key styling elements, florals, colour palettes etc.).
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted a destination wedding. We had attended one in the past and loved the experience of spending an extended amount of time with both the bride and groom, as well as their friends and family. The opportunity to celebrate for several days—sharing meals, exploring a new place, and forming new friendships—felt so special, and we knew we wanted that same feeling for our own wedding. Spain quickly became the obvious choice. Jeffy’s father is from Cuba but has family ties to Spain, and both of us had already fallen in love with Madrid as a city. From there, our vision came together naturally: a stunning venue full of history and character, which allowed us to keep the décor simple yet impactful. We leaned into a timeless palette of white florals and greenery, complemented by subtle black and green accents. Together, these elements created a clean, elegant, and sophisticated atmosphere that highlighted the rustic beauty of the castle setting.
What styling and visual elements worked best for you? (could be things, the florals, particular hire products or your marquee, etc., something the stylist created or simply just the scenic beauty of your location or the existing design of your venue).
Our venue, Castillo de Batres, was truly the centerpiece of our design vision and set the tone for everything else. From the moment we first toured it, we were captivated by its charm and history—the kind of atmosphere that speaks for itself. Because of that, we knew the castle didn’t need heavy decorating; instead, we wanted to highlight its natural beauty and create an experience that felt both timeless and awe-inspiring for our guests. After all, it’s not something we could ever recreate back home, which made it even more special. When it came to styling, we relied heavily on Pinterest and TikTok to help us curate vision boards and refine our ideas. The team at The Planner Co, along with our florist MDR Studio, exceeded our expectations and brought every detail to life. Together, they perfectly balanced elegance and simplicity, allowing the venue’s history to shine while still creating a space that felt fresh, personal, and unforgettable.

What did you enjoy most about the planning process, and do you have any tips for couples starting their wedding planning journey?
While wedding planning can certainly have its stressful moments, the part we enjoyed most was the people we met along the way. Our incredible planning team at The Planner Co. was truly the backbone of the entire experience—they understood us, anticipated our needs, and guided us through every detail with such care. Another highlight was the creative side of planning: designing our dream wedding and watching our inspiration boards slowly transform into reality. Seeing those ideas brought to life was both surreal and so rewarding. For couples beginning their own planning journey, our biggest piece of advice is to really savor the process. Of course, the wedding day itself is magical, but the weeks and months leading up to it hold so many special moments as well. One day, it may feel like the wedding is endlessly far away, and the next you’ll be home from your honeymoon wishing you could hop back on your weekly planning calls. For us, the journey was just as meaningful as the destination, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
Tell us about your vendors. Were there any standout suppliers you would like to make special mention of?
We feel incredibly fortunate for every single vendor who contributed to our special day, all of whom we found through our amazing planner. From the wonderful team at The Sentimentalist in Atlanta, where Jeffy found her dress, to Colleen at White Orchid Bridal, who took painstaking care to ensure every alteration was perfect, and even our incredible DJ Dani B—we were surrounded by people who made the day seamless, joyful, and unforgettable. Many of them have become friends we will cherish forever. Our photographers, Carlota and Sara, deserve special mention as well. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable throughout the day, handled every moment with care, and captured our wedding in a way that feels completely authentic to us. Their work allows us to relive the joy, emotion, and magic of the day again and again, and we are so grateful to have had them as part of our team.

Tell us about your main outfits, what was unique, and is there a story?
I (Jeffy) knew I wanted a dress that would complement our venue—something simple yet elevated, with accessories that added a personal and unique touch. I’ve always loved the idea of capes—they feel so regal, which seemed perfectly fitting for a castle wedding! The team at The Sentimentalist let me experiment with different accessories until I found the custom combination of my dreams. For the reception, I wanted a fun, sparkly party look that would be perfect on the dance floor.
I (Tim) kept my look classic and understated with a black tux. We chose a black-tie wedding to match the grandeur of the venue, and wanted to keep the guys’ looks clean and simple so that Jeffy’s look could really shine.
Tell us about your wedding and engagement rings.
After dating for about a year, Jeffy created a Pinterest board filled with her dream rings—something shiny, gold, and a little unique. When it came time for Tim to shop, one of Jeffy’s friends shared the board with him, helping him find exactly what she had envisioned. Tim surprised Jeffy with a stunning three-stone ring, featuring an emerald-cut center stone flanked by tapered baguettes on each side and set on a gold band—it was absolutely perfect.
A few months before the wedding, we visited a jeweler friend to select our bands. We both chose simple gold bands, classic and timeless, that complement our engagement ring beautifully. Together, they feel like the perfect reflection of our style: elegant, understated, and meaningful.

What were one or two elements that were most important to you both that you were happy to spend a little more on? (food, photography, florals, the venue, your outfits?).
The venue was our first non-negotiable—asking everyone to fly to Spain meant we wanted a location that felt truly grand and special, somewhere guests would feel the trip was absolutely worth it. Beyond the venue, we focused on the elements of a wedding that matter most to us as guests. Food and drinks were an easy choice—we love both, so we made sure to have the very best. Service was equally important, and our catering team exceeded every expectation. Music was the final top priority. Both of us love to dance and sing along to our favorite songs, so finding a DJ who understood our tastes and the vibe we wanted was essential. Ultimately, we wanted a wedding experience that felt thoughtful, personal, and fun—one that we and our guests could truly enjoy from start to finish.
Was there a favourite moment (or two) that you will treasure always?
There are a million incredible moments from our wedding, but one we’ll always treasure is the feeling of seeing over 100 close friends and family make the cross-Atlantic journey to celebrate with us. Exploring one of our favorite cities surrounded by our favorite people was a truly unforgettable experience. In that moment, we felt completely cherished, supported, and more loved than ever. It perfectly captured the joy, connection, and sense of community that defined our entire wedding—reminding us that the people and relationships around us are truly what make these celebrations so meaningful.
