Oceanic Fantasy and Couture: Alon Livné‘s Garlands at New York Bridal Fashion Week
Every bridal fashion season brings its share of beautiful collections, but occasionally a designer presents something so imaginative, so visually distinctive, that it demands a closer look. Alon Livné‘s Garlands, his Fall/Winter 2027 bridal collection, is one of those moments. A standout favourite from our New York Bridal Fashion Week coverage this October, Garlands takes its inspiration from the mysterious depths of the ocean, translating an extraordinary underwater world into a collection that feels daring, highly creative and unlike anything else we’ve encountered this season.

What makes this collection particularly compelling is the originality of its inspiration and the intelligence with which Livné interprets it. Rather than relying on familiar references to romance and femininity, the designer explores the extraordinary beauty concealed beneath the ocean’s surface. There is a fascinating tension between the delicate allure of mythical sea nymphs and the darker, more enigmatic creatures imagined in the deepest waters. It is an unexpected starting point for bridalwear, and one that gives the collection an entirely distinctive identity.

Livné has always approached fashion with an artist’s eye for the human form. Known for his sculptural silhouettes, futuristic influences and an appreciation for the provocative, the designer has dressed figures including Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. His work frequently explores the relationship between softness and strength, combining traditional couture craftsmanship with experimental approaches to shape and construction. In Garlands, that creative confidence is particularly evident.

The detailing is nothing short of extraordinary. Intricate hand-executed embroidery sits alongside wild pearls, shells, conches, antique jewellery, stones and metals, all incorporated into the garments with remarkable imagination. These elements feel less like conventional embellishments and more like precious artefacts recovered from the ocean floor. There is something wonderfully theatrical about the way these organic forms interact with the body, introducing unexpected textures, irregularity and a sense of movement to the precision of couture.

For us, it is this extraordinary connection to the ocean that makes Garlands so memorable. The collection moves beyond the expected visual language of bridal fashion, finding beauty in unusual materials, dramatic contrasts and a slightly darker interpretation of femininity. It feels genuinely fashion-forward, yet the intricacy of the craftsmanship ensures that the creative ambition is matched by an equally considered execution.

Among the collections we’ve explored during New York Bridal Fashion Week, Garlands stands apart for its originality and its willingness to take bridal fashion somewhere unexpected. There is an almost otherworldly quality to the designs, but also a strong sense of artistic purpose. Livné isn’t simply creating beautiful gowns. He is building an entire visual world around them.

Bold, imaginative and unapologetically expressive, Garlands is one of our favourite collections of the season. Its oceanic references, extraordinary detailing and sculptural approach to the female form make it a particularly memorable expression of contemporary bridal couture. If ever a collection deserved to be described as iconic, this is certainly a contender.
