Leading 100% natural fragrance house, Abel has launched a Parfum Extrait collection; and it’s an intimate new way to scent.
From the brand: A 100% natural, alcohol-free, highly concentrated parfum in a travel-friendly 7ML bottle made at the brand’s Wellington perfumery. The new Parfum Extrait line is rich in therapeutic-grade essential oils, designed to be dabbed on pulse points for a restorative scent experience. This is a modern evolution of the classical extrait de parfum. With self-care, ritual and intention at its core it is an entirely new category in its own right.
We were lucky enough to be sent two of the beautiful fragrances to try.
We love the consistency of the oil, it’s easy to apply, silky smooth and you only need the smallest amount. The small oil bottles are perfect for carrying in your handbag, taking on holiday or simply having on hand throughout the day wherever. you are. They would also make the most lovely gifts for maids, friends or family.
The fragrances we tried are Green Cedar, which was created for vitality. It is lovingly made from twice distilled Texas cedar and wild-harvested Atlas Mountain cedar. The top notes consist of magnolia and cardamon; heart notes are cypriol and guaiac wood; with the base notes being the previously mentioned Texas cedar and wild-harvested Atlas Mountain cedar. This makes for a fresh green and truly beautiful vibrant fragrance.
The Cobalt Amber is described as a sophisticated oriental and was designed for comfort. The top notes are a trio of pink pepper, juniper berry and cardamon. Followed by heart notes of cacao, tonka and Peru balsam, then anchored with a base note of amber. Ths is a fragrance we are very much looking forward to wearing throughout Autumn and Winter. It feels spicy, warm and reassuring.

The Parfum Extrait line is Abel’s first collection to be developed and made locally in Aotearoa at their Wellington Fabriek (Dutch for factory). In keeping with Abel’s renowned focus on sustainable production, Parfum Extrait customers can also return their bottles to the Fabriek to refill.
Abel recommends dabbing the scents on your pulse points, and reapplying as needed for a restorative scent ritual throughout the day.
